Questions that need clarifying from you before the installation difficulty can be determined...

1) Bose or non-Bose
2) If Bose, are you keeping the stock amps and speakers?
3) Are you wanting to keep your steering wheel controls?
4) Are you installing any additional accessories with it (satellite radio, cd changer, tv tuner, etc)?
5) Are you connecting any other equipment to the unit (such as an X-Box, PS2, VCR, etc)?

Once we know those answers, we can scale the degree of difficulty.

Ok:

1) Non Bose
2) Keeping them for now
3) Depends on how difficult this part is
4) I'll be installing satalite radio and iPod adaptor
5) Hadn't planed on it

Also, will any shop do the double din conversion?

Shops will probably do it and charge you a chunk. All you need to keep your steering wheel controls is a PAC SWI-PS.

If you want the double-din install with an AVIC-D1 on a non-premium 2005, no professional installer should charge you more than $150. The ipod and XM will probably be extra....

In your case, you should explain to them the HU is plug and play, the dash kit is bolt on, and the unit doesn't have a hideaway brain, before they quote you...

To my knowledge, most shops won't do the DUAL button work on the stock controller. Some will, but most won't. That may be something that you have to tackle yourself while they are doing the install.

The PAC SWI-PS only works on pioneer and some sony HU I believe. The eclipse will need the PAC SWI-X if the 5435 has an infrared remote.
