V1 vs. 8500 - The debate must continue...
http://www.speedzones.com/ is where I pulled my information from for the test results. You will see they are own and operated by SML.
I did provide the proof and real hard core testing. The V1 still is the best EOD.
I have a friend with a X50. He always wants me in front because my V1 still seems to pick up the police sooner than his.

I am done having this discussion. You believe what you want. I trust MT tests much more and real world experience with both detectors over what some strange lab site you posted says. I am not here to start a fight or a childish arguement. It is obvious you think YOUR X50 is the best and I think my V1 is the best because we own them currently. But since I have owned both, and also go by MT tests because they actually do if you actually read the article talk about the setup, etc.

I don't care about your friend. Don't you get it? You're not an expert, neither is your friend. Motortrend's results were simply a rewrite of the SML 2005 test, if you look on page http://www.motortrend.com/features/c...de/index1.html it describes that.
And the boiled-down reasons for why motortrend pics the V1 are exactly as I described in the actual analysis of the SML results. I said that V1 has better laser protection, and they say that it has "outstanding detection", however they do not mention the long range tests that the SML test does, and they do not mention the fact that V1 fails in a proximity test.
I have yet to see you address any test results, only point to boiler plates of the SML test and tell about personal experiences.

Then we simply here do not care about you and what you think now do we?
And like I have said you do not own a V1, you have no clue.

1) V1 has arrows
2) V1 is the only detector that can detect signals from behind you other than laser.
3) V1 has upgrade plans where your detector can get the latest technology programmed into it for a low rate instead of tossing out the old X50, etc.
4) V1 can also be programmed to work the way you want it.

If you read the fine print on their testing, it says that individual results can vary and that their tests were under ideal conditions. On radarbusters.com who was present during testing reported on their site that the Spectre III RDD was malfunctioning during the X50 testing due to overheating problems. They were unable to retest. Considering the X50 was detectable at over a 1/4 mile away with the Spectre I and II, I'm going to have to assume that the Spectre III when working properly would detect it as well. Now that the V1 has POP detection, I would say that performance would be about equal under ideal testing. However under real world testing, I found the V1 to be a tad bit better than the X50. I drove around Vienna, VA several day during lunch with my coworkers new X50 and my new V1. The V1 seemed to pick up K band about 2 seconds faster. The Escort picked up KA about 1 second faster. When the police were located around corners, the V1 always went off about 2 seconds faster in both K and KA. On our way home on the last day of testing, the V1 went off with the signal pointing towards the rear. The X50 went off about 5 seconds afterwards. Both detected radar in absolutely rediculous lengths however and either one would suffice. I'm sure the same goes for the Bel. I bought the V1 for 3 reasons. It's definately more solidly built in comparison to the X50. The Magnesium case just gives a more solid feeling. 2nd, I live in VA where detectors are illegal to use. The concealed display that the V1 has allowed me to run the detector without lights on the main unit. 3rd, the arrows. They simply make finding the radar source easy. If you haven't had the pleasure of experiencing them, you are truly missing out.
The truth of the matter is, all 3 detectors are the best out there bar none. It's up to each individual's preference on what features they feel meets their needs. I find the V1 fits my needs perfectly.

Now you're changing your stand on things, which is fine (we have an entire political party that does that on a daily basis these days
). You have changed from "V1 is the best hands down EOD" to "all three detectors are the best out there and it's up to personal preference." I totally agree with this, and if you notice, I've never said the 8500 is the best out there. I simply showed how tests can easily say that the 8500 is the best.
The v1hater link does not address SML, as SML is not owned by Craig Peterson. Radartest.com is owned by Craig Peterson and speedzones.com (and SML) is owned by Carl Fors.
Beyond that, my "understanding" and compassion of a company crying victim and prejudice is only going to go so far. Valentine has been telling the same story of prejudice and "they are out to get me" for years, all the way back to 95 at least. When is he going to get over it and pick up a marketing & business strategy to combat this... other than an page on his outdated site?
But hey, we agree!
They are all excellent detectors and it's up to personal preference. So can this thread be done?

The Valentine One is the best radar/laser detector on the market today.

"This year, the measurement of the radar and laser detection abilities of each of the over $200 units gives the Valentine One ($400) a small edge over the competing BEL Vector 995 ($260) and Escort Passport 8500 X50 ($300 with red display or $340 with a blue display) units."
V1 is the best in laser detection:
http://www.radardetector.net/viewtop...213&highlight=
V1 has the best rear radar detection because it is the only detector with 2 antennas to locate radar:
http://www.radardetector.net/viewtop...214&highlight=
V1 is the least detectable detector by RDD's or Radar Detector Detectors in states where radar detectors are illegal. The Spectre III is the most used RDD in the world and it can only pick up the Valentine One if it is 166 feet or closer which is better than the X50 which can be detected 954 feet away.

The Valentine One which accounts for only .6% of radar detector sales wins every poll when it comes to being the favorite detector. The X50 doesn't even get an approval rating as high as George Bush's worst rating.

Radar Roy from Radarbusters.com said this about the Valentine One, "Just spoke with Carl Fors from SML, his website will be going online tonight with the 2005 results. He has declared the V895, 8500 and the Valentine One as the top performers. Motortrend, who was also at the test, will be declaring the Valentine One as the top detector based upon its detection of laser.

Radar Roy said, "There were results that they (Guys of Lidar) got during the test that I was not exactly pleased with, such as the discovery of the Blinder not having Stealth Mode installed and the Valentine beating out the Escort and Bel in the range tests. Even though I don’t sell the Valentine, it does have slightly better range than both the RX65 and the 8500 and I also show this same fact on my site. Would love it to be the other way around."
Here is a link and video of the V1 alerting to radar quicker than the X50 and sometimes the X50 didn't alert to the radar at all. They are quick pulling the radar guns trigger and the X50 is filtering it out and the V1 is picking it up every time.

I'm not even going to begin to reply to what is wrong with all of that. faulty sources, faulty data, faulty premises. give it up. I also have a source that states that Infiniti is declaring bankrupcy next year. I have another source that says that GM is buying Nissan. I have another source that says Radar Roy is a klan member. I have lots of sources. G35TX and I decided (to use his words) "EOD", because we agree
I frequently drive between DFW and Houston 2 or 3 times/month - love to drive fast - to off course blow the carbon build up off my motor
. As I get older I am more and more cautious and take less risks about getting caught or even drafting someone.
Best way I have found to speed and minimize the risk caused by instant-on radar is to find some sucker, size them up, and use them as bait. Start off by provoking them into a mini-race then let them win and let them keep the lead. Most often it's someone without a V1.
I generally keep about a 1/4 to 1/3 of a mile back while these yahooz strut their stuff up front.
Well guess what usually happens when the welcome wagon comes in range. I slow down, my bait sticks to his (or her) speed only to slam on their brakes much later.
have been using a V1 since they first came out in the early 90's. Had to wait about 6 months back then after my order because of the C&D article sometime in 1992 that caused a huge spike in V1 demand. But it was well worth it.
V1's the best - no doubt about it - and the three V1's that I have had in the past 12 or 13 years have paid for themselves many times over.
just my cents - drive safe and keep burning off the carbon build up

Well I do know I got two tickets with my 8500. And I have had none with my V1. As long as it was turned on of course. The one time I loaned it to a friend I got a ticket! Go figure.
