V1 only from ebay or direct from them (www.valentine1.com). 8500 can be bought most anywhere for about $100 less.

V-1, gotta have the arrows~ This works especially well to identify false signals and police traveling on opposite traffic lane. I don't know what good is a radar detector if it can't identify the exact location of the source.

Are you arrow people retarded? You don't need the damn little arrows. They are good for false promises.

I've listed about 1000 scenarios were those arrows don't mean $hit yet you people swear by them. Why???

Are you telling me you honestly only slow down after you see the cop. Does the V1 even let you get that close?

No one can anwser the left or right question.

What if a cop is hiding by a bank or drug store? Do you not slow down because you see a store???

I want to hear a good arguement for the v1? Yet to have hear one?

lets jus say, they both are top of the line, u can't go wrong either way. Personally I would get the X50, newer design, plus u can keep that $100 for something else.

It's kinda like G35 vs 330Ci
X50 vs V1

one cost more than the other, most u get outta the V1 is brand name + arrows. Still ghetto

Whew a little testy I see.....you must have the X50 or none at all. ok scenarios just for WRAH.

Scenario #1. You are driving by youlocal drug store and of coarse you get you BEEP and an arrow pointing straight, a few seconds later you get another beep and an arrow pointing behind you. Guess what a cop just pulled into traffic running radar and the arrow is telling you he's behind you. X50 just says BEEP!

Scenario #2. You are driving down your favorite high speed freeway...and low and behold you get a beep and an arrow pointing straight ahead. Of coarse you slow down and pass the radar car and then start to accelerate when you beep again arrow pointing behind you(old Boogey) and a NEW arropw pointing straight ahead again. Over the next hill or around the bend is the chase car or back up running radar again. X50 will just BEEP and you will think it's the one behind you.

The V1 also has signal stregh as well for whoever questioned it. As for the test. The V1 actually had better score for range then the X50. You can see for yourself. Again you choose, but if you ever try and buy a V1 used they sell for just about retail. What do you think that means?

Oh yeah as for the guy who looks retarded....hmmmm do you by things cause the model looks good? If so you should look within before making such comments. I believe that guy helped develope the RADAR gun.

i have the x50 and it has saved my **** more times than i can count. i did get one speeding ticket with it, but the ticket wouldve been much worse if i didnt have the x50 and slammed on the brakes - 95 in a 70 vs 84 in a 70 on the ticket.

personally i've never used the V1 so i cant really speak for it, but from experience the x50 is a great detector.

i did read a study that said that the V1 was better at detecting laser. 99% of the time if you are hit with laser youre already dead. the only exception was with the V1 when the cops were shooting the car immediately in front of the V1-equipped ride - in this scenario the V1 went off, while the x50 did not.

I like the different display options in the x50. If you are familiar with radar frequencies, the x50 can display the actual frequency its detecting and you can determine if it is false. I also like the multi-signal display where you can see the signal strength of each detected signal. In my area, anything X or K band is false; the cops only use Ka.

If only someone would make a radar detector on par with the x50 and V1 that has BOTH arrows AND the great informational LED display. now that would make someone rich.

long story short, if my detector goes off, i'm hitting the brakes regardless if i have a V1 or x50. IMO i saved myself $100 by going with the x50.

I used to have the old passport 7500, and now the V1. Forget about the ability to detect radar, the arrows alone make the V1 simply awesome. This is an incident that happen to me the other day and saved my as$. I am driving down the highway in the middle lane. The median is a big grass median what is about 6 lanes wide. As i'm approaching a hill, the detector goes off pointing straight ahead, 2 bogies. When I look, there is a cop on the other side of the highway, pointing the opposite direction as me, ready to bust someone going the other way. He is pointed in the same direction as the opposite side of traffic, using the radar facing backwards to nail speeders coming from the opposite direction. I picked up the radar a good 300 yards (keep in mind that his radar was pointing backwards). After I pass him, the arrow pointing forward continues blinking (the blinking arrow indicates the bigger threat), while the rear arrow remained lit. After about another mile of driving, maybe more, I saw a cop in my direction of traffic, using his rear radar, waiting to bust someone. Had I not been using the V1, I would have first continued on my way thinking the threat was over, and then slowed down as the beeping would continue, but by then it might have been too late. I now, too, swear by the arrows!

I have a passport x50, and I'm thinking of trading it in for a V1. When my escort goes off, I can never spot where the cop is. I only slow down. It doesn't give me enough confidence.

However, I have no justification for the arrows. I guess it can help me be more definite on where the signal is coming from. How many boogey counters can a V1 track? I know the passport can track 2 K, 2 Ka, and 4 X waves.
The signals could be false signals, but without the arrows you have no way of knowing. With the V1, when I approach a supermarket, it beeps with the arrows pointing ahead. As I pass by it, the arrows point to the sides, and when I pass it, the arrow points to the back.

As for the V1 being able to detect multiple signals, it picks up atleast 9. There are little lights to the right of the bogey counter that tell you what radar types it is detecting. I'm not sure now if the eminent threat flashes for the radar types as well, but you are well informed.

I drive a lot in the city, and if I were to do this, i'd be driving the speed limit the entire time. With the help of the arrows, and being familiar with the area, I can ignore most of the times the detector beeps.

BTW, I have completely disabled X band. In Florida its useless, as police agencies are no longer using them, and I beleive they are not allowed to use them. Also, now most of the automatic door openers here are K band, so the damm thing beeps everytime I pass an automatic door opener.

As a semi-agressive driver, I have been getting tickets quite often with my old radar makes like Uniden. Without a radar at all, I get even more tickets. Ever since I've gotten the V1, it saved me from 4 tickets within the first 2 months of having it. Each ticket on average here would be around $150 CDN. Taking that into account, I think I already got my money's worth. It still saves me once in a while and I think the arrows are definitely helpful. Many times, it'd go off, and I look around and I don't see anyone. But then when I look down at the arrows and see where it's coming from, I look at that direction for a few seconds, and I eventually do see a cop gunning me. By then I already took caution to slow down, avoiding an expensive ticket. I've gotten a V1 more than 5 years ago then sold it cuz I was goin away. I saved me then, and now i'm back, I bought one again and it's saving me now. My brother used one, and 2 of my friends have one and none of us has gotten caught speeding since having the V1. It's a great investment and even though it's ugly to some, it works and that's all that matters.
