DIY Door Panel Removal
DIY Door Panel Removal
When I took my G Coupe doors apart I could not find a picture DIY to do so. It is actually pretty easy to do for all of you out there looking to change your front speakers. First thing you want to do is roll down your windows, it is much easier to get the panels off with the window down (If you disconnect the battery to work on any electronics it is crucial because you could crack the windows if you try to close the door.)
Tools you will need: A long flat tip screw driver and a 10 mm socket with extension.

First Step, locate and remove the small clip that covers the first screw.

Second, pry off the silver plastic trim that covers the handle by inserting the flat head screw driver into the notch at the bottom of the trim piece. Pull the screw driver toward your self to pop the trim piece off (It is on pretty securely so it might be a little tough). Remove the two screws with the socket wrench.

These are all the screws and pieces that you should have out:

Next, pry out the four plastic clips from the bottom of the door. It is simple to find these because of the cutouts at the bottom of the panel.

Pull on the panel from the sides starting at the bottom and work your way to the top. The door panel will not fall because it hinges in the window opening at the top of the door. You can pull up on the panel to get it out of the window opening only a few inches because it is attached with the door handle/lock cables, and two wiring connections. Hold the panel up with your elbows as you disconnect the connections if you don't have someone to help you.

Use the flat head screwdriver to disengage the wiring harnesses. Pull the lock and door panel cables up to remove them from the panel. You can now take off the panel.

Finally
This is what the door looks like with the panel off (Sorry it's the left door with my new speaker installed, also the window is up because I had just drilled into the door to mount my spacers). The stock bose speaker comes out easily with 3 screws and one wire connection.
