Harness Installation

Re: Harness Installation
wreck, I did the harness the other day. Set aside about 4 hours. TAKE YOUR TIME when pulling everything apart, or I promise something will end up broke. My install went very smooth, Dont force anything and you'll be fine. The hardest part was getting it all apart. If you have a question, post and I'll give you a hand. I usually check a few times a day.

Passenger side.
But you need to take the drivers and passengers sides apart so you can get the side covers off (the covers that have the ciggerette lighter and power outlet). The have to come off to be able to get the radio console out.
Which leads me to getting the cover around the clock off. You will need to take a flatblade screwdriver (wrap a towel on the end so you dont scratch anything) and pry up on the oval part at the clock. Do it slow and once you can get a finger or two in there just pull up and out. You need to put some weight into it to get it off.

Re: Harness Installation
That is a pic of the rear of the radio assembly (I took the pic looking in the windshield).
Yes, that hook shape has a screw you have to undo behind the clock, and it all pulls out. Remember the position of that area so you can get it back in properly.
Also, looking at the pic, you'll notice there are 4 plugs on the back of the radio.
The open plug is for the sat connection, you need to pull the upper left plug (refering to the above pic), it'll be the upper right when your in the car. Pull that plug, and put the one end of the pigtail in there, and connect the other end of the pigtail to the factory wire you pulled out.
Ok?

Re: Harness Installation
I'll be here if you need help.
I have Nav, just keep it closed, no problem.
Also, you will have to undo some other connections back there to pull the radio out further, you will see once you start pulling it out.
And - Make sure you pop the trunk first, cause the one connection you pull to get yourself more room, disables the trunk release button on the dash (by the VDC).
A small flatbalde screwdriver (eyeglass type) makes it a great deal easier to undo all of these plugs your gonna pull.
If you want my phone number to call for quick help, let me know.

Re: Harness Installation
On the trunk end of the plug, there are three connectors. Why?

Re: Harness Installation
No, on the trunk end there is only one connection you use on the xm box, it is next to the green and yellow connections for the antenna.
The three connections are the radio end.
One for the open sat spot. Next, you undo another plug back there , put the one end of the pigtail in the radio, and put the factory wire into the other end of the pigtail.
