I have a 12w6 and a JL 450/4. 150 x 2 and 75x2. The 75 x2 powers my MB Quart Prem. Series Components in front and the 150x2 is bridged to 300/1 for my sub. I'm running an audio/control Hi-lo switch and this system sounds like crap. I don't know what's wrong with mine. This weekend I will find out. I'm pissed. Anyone have suggestions?????

Most people use a 500/1 to power a 10W7, but whenn you have a 12W7, it is better to go with a 1000/1.

if you're still having problems PM me and maybe we can setup a time where we can check it out and adjust accordingly. you definitely don't want to set the gain too high.

take the RMS amount you want and multiply that by the Res (ohm) of your sub. Take that number and square root it. This will give you the voltage you want across the speaker wires so you don't clip. You will also want a test CD with 50Hz sine wave at 0dB. Other option is to use an o-scope to check out if it clips. This will maximize the output.

I'm in Costa Mesa so if you want let me know. We just installed our custom 2 12" sealed box in a test car (not mine since I'm waiting for my amp to be repaired). 2 12" w3s. I wasn't impressed but again we may need to do some more adjustments.

Could someone with the same setup just take a picture of all their settings? Seriously though, without going through all the "tests" and such, does someone already "know" what the settings SHOULD be for this setup?

what tests? get a multimeter... or adjust your gains and set the freq. get it so at whatever max volume you would normally listen it to you don't have any clipping. i'm totally serious that this isn't hard at all. make sure your box doesn't have any leaks either. i may have missed it but is it a ported or sealed box?

i should also add that settings vary by application and preference... what's chest pounding/ear numbing to one is not to another.

Sorry to revive this thread, but I'm wanting to get some ideas of people's settings on their 500/1 w/ the W6 in 4080's box. Namely, the input level (gain). I don't have the equipment to set it myself and was wanting a quick estimate. Also, the other bass settings would be nice too as this amp has WAY too many customization options.

Honestly dude...It's ALL in the manual. Read the directions. Use JL's multimeter gain setup instructions. A multimeter can be purchased for like $15 at WalMart. It's worth it to get the most out of your amp without blowing your speakers. Your W6 will give recommendations for the correct settings for it as well in the manual. If you don't have the manual, go to their website and get the PDF version.
