PAC SWI-X Steering Wheel Control

Just installed mine today and it's a must have for anyone who installed an aftermarket radio. I have a pioneer avh6500dvd with Navi. I now can use my steering wheel control for volume, cd/dvd reverse & forward, mute and I can switch between modes i.e. am/fm, cd, dvd or aux using my steering wheel controls...it's great!

Good job. I still need to do my PAC SWI-PS for my AVIC-D1. I just haven't gotten around to it yet. LOL!

Where did you mount the IR LED? How is the lag?

if you click on the "My Hidden Pioneer Navi" link in my signature you'll see my head unit...I installed the IR LED on the black area just in front of the unit's IR receiver. The lag isn't all that bad at all: click-hold for 1 sec next track plays

Yeah, that one second thing is too long for me. :P I thought it was where I mounted my IR LED which is why I asked about your location. I've been debating wether or not to reinstall it. Would love to hear your feedback on it after about a week of use. I only had mine in place for a couple of days.

Does your Pioneer not have the wired remote input? Fortunately mine does, which is why I can use the -PS.

Yeah same here...I installed mine on wednesday. Honestly I'm very happy with it. I was constantly dropping my pioneer's remote in between the driver's seat and center console...a pain in the *** to retrieve. Volume up/down is instantaneous changing between modes is also instant...it's just switching tracks where I get that delay

Yeah dude, you can get the PAC SWI-PS. It's specific for Pioneer and Sony decks man. Then you don't need the IR!

The time lag is also the only negative I have encountered with my SWI-X unit [I'm using it on an Eclipse AVN 2454]. Though I still prefer to deal with the lag, rather than not having the steering wheel controls at all.
