TV/DVD TUNER IS A REALITY
Re: TV/DVD TUNER IS A REALITY
This is why I didn't get the Nav. IN total that systems costed 3grand+. $2000 for the nav, and $1000 for the conversion. It's not worth it for me bedcause for half price I could put in something similar. It is a great setup man, good luck with it. If you have the cash, JUST BUY IT ALREADY

Re: TV/DVD TUNER IS A REALITY
Hey yo "JOEY" =)
What up my friend.
Yah $3,000.00 is quite expensive for a TV in the car LOL.
I'm just a big kid that doesn't want to grow up yet and of course I gotta have the video games (PS2) in there too! I'm getting so much street props from people pulling up and going "WOW" makes it all worth while! Yah I think I'm going to end up keeping this car...adding a BAZOOKA TUBE this week...got it for $50.00 from a buddy of mine ..used but if it works that's all that matters! Nice Ride!

Re: TV/DVD TUNER IS A REALITY
Don't be hatin on this mod guys. I plan to do this one as well. Except I'll be hooking up a mini-itx PC w/ dvd rom to the tuner instead of a PS2. The PC along with web access through my cell phone will be awesome. Sure you can go for cheaper though the aftermarket but will it be as clean an install and stealth as using the stock pop-up nav screen? That's why it's stock nav all the way! btw am I the only one who thinks aftermarket nav systems look hella ghetto? Anyway, the only thing I'm worried about is the possiblility of my nav warrenty being voided if I do this 1 wire cut.

MrSkyline - let me know when you've made the mod to your NAV! That'd be cool to hook up on the web!
Hey do you know if it's legal or illegal to have dvd/tv running in the front and what the fine or penalty is if there is any? Thanks!

Re: TV/DVD TUNER IS A REALITY
Well I can't do it anytime soon since my 04' coupe is on order but those are my plans for it. Shouldn't be too hard. Mini-itx form factor PC should be really easy to fit somewhere since it's really tiny and cheap too for info go to www.mini-itx.com people got all sorts of wierd projects using those boards. For the pc video out there are converters out there you can buy all over the net to convert a computer monitor signal to rca jacks to plug into the tuner so no wire cutting needed. For keyboard and mouse I'll use a wireless radio keyboard w/ built in mini mouse combo I saw. For power just use a dc to ac convertor to plug into the cigarette lighter ( a little ghetto but not too bad). Only thing I can think of that worries me is how I will mount the dvd rom in the armrest lid and have the ide cable go all the way back to the trunk where my PC will be. A few people here have that done so I know there must be cables long enough I guess. For web access I have sprint vision plan so it's basically unlimited internet at faster than 56k speeds. Just connect the data cable to the PC and have the software installed and you're all set. As to how I'll turn on my PC if it's in the trunk just go into the bios setup and set power on AC so when you start up the car the PC automatically boots. If anyone with experience sees any flaw or shortcommings in my plan please let me know. This stuff is all just planned in my head right now.

Re: TV/DVD TUNER IS A REALITY
i'm really interested in this mod also... however, I'd rather not use the FM modulation for my sound... I see that avelectronics has the blitzsafe adaptor on there for sale too... has anyone tried that and have gotten it to work? I looked on the blitzsafe website and didn't see any infiniti/nissan products... so how does that adaptor work...
Re: TV/DVD TUNER IS A REALITY
How about relocating the hazards to the driver side cig lighter, then using the old Hazards hole to mount the red button?

Sounds cool. I want to do the same thing!
What OS will you use?
Wifi would be cool also if you have broadband at home.. pull up to your driveway and download movies/mp3s from your home server..
Will a second DVD drive fit in the dash with the nav DVD drive?

Re: TV/DVD TUNER IS A REALITY
Hey guys,
If anyone knows of a way to get better sound other than the "FM" mode...please PM me. The sound quality from the "FM" band is not that great...I'd say on a scale of 1-10 it's only about a 5...10 being the best! I thought a bazooka tube might improve the sound. I have the PS2 on the backseat but I am trying to find a better way to relocate it...I saw a DVD player installed in the glove box on the www.avelectronic.com website...Perhaps I can have that done!
I'm missing a pixel on my nav screen. Have no clue how that happend...I'm wondering if the factory can replace that...Ouch if I have to do it on my own!
