Removing OEM sat antenna

What's the best way to remove it without damage to the roof?
I'm not sure if this is a permanent tape.

Thanks guys...

Arrow Great question???

I'm in the same boat and would also appreciate the answer!

I thought I heard it was 3M tape but I'm concerned about how to pull vs. peel vs. rock back-and-forth methods. Also my G is an early '04 and am worried if there will be any discoloration after removal.

TIA to all for you responses.

There are a few previous posts on this FYI... Its stuck on with strong adhesive tape along with a heavy duty magnet. You best bet is to use dental floss and carefully pull it off. The magnet will make the rocking difficult. You can also try doing it while its been in the sun so the glue is alittle more loose. Also keep in mind you have a wire that goes through the rubber tail into the seal above the rear window. Discoloration is unlikely but possible. It shouldn't be bad enough to bother you once you clean the area.

The best way is the heat the antenna with heat gun, or hair dryer. It will peal right off the roof, or you can use dental floss or fishing wire to pry the antenna off. There will be residue on the roof, but get an adhesive remover like 3M or goo be gone and it will take it right off. Remember, if you wax your car, there will be some slight discoloration where the old antenna is, just wash the area with water and dawn, to get rid of the old wax, and re-apply new wax. Good luck
