"how to" on changing my front 6 1/2's
i got my speakers, popped of the door panel, unscrewed the old bose speakers, and went to put in the new speakers when i realized they werent even coming close to fitting b/c the cut out or hole was way to big...
so my question is where can i get that bracket for my speakers to fit or what should i do? to get them in there. TIA

yea sorry.. im at work and a little busy/lazy.. lol Anyways, I tried doing a search to find a few pictures, but this computer won't allow me to.
If you take some 3/4" wood, you can make a piece that is just big enough cut-out in the center to fit your new speaker and still attach to the stock screw holes. Then attach the piece of wood to the door using the stock screw hole pattern. From there you can screw in the new speaker to the piece of wood. *Sorry if that's confusing, I'm multi-tasking right now*

I'm pretty sure you can purchase them, but as far as a specific place, I have no idea. I just searched under 'car speaker bracket' on yahoo - with a little time, I'm sure you would be able to find a website to purchase them or something local.

Blazin... i made a pair of spacer rings myself yesterday... they're not as pretty as the ones Espresso made, but they got the job done and nobody is EVER going to see them anyways... just use the stock Bose speaker as a template and cut them out with a jigsaw, then i drilled out the screw holes with a countersink bit to allow the stock screws to hold it in

Is it necessary to have 3/4" MDF to mount these speakers? Is there enough clearance behind the panel for the speaker to be pushed out 3/4"?
Without the spacer of 3/4" would the speaker hit the window?
I would just like ot hear from folks the reasoning behind the 3/4" spacer.
Thanks!
