Confusing/Conflicting Bose system specs
I am a bit confused about the conflicting information about the Bose systems in our cars. I hear some have 2Ohm front speakers, and others have 4Ohm. I hear some have a seperately amplified Sub, others regular 6x9's powered by the stock bose amp.
What is the definitive Bose setup for a 2005 G35 Coupe with Prem./Bose system? Specifically looking for answers from folks that have actually seen the components and know definitively the answers, not just heresay.
1) Front 6.5" Mids: ? Ohm
2) Front Tweeters: ? Ohm
3) Rear 6.5" Mids: ? Ohm
4) Rear 6x9" subs: ? Ohm
5) Are the 6x9" speakers powered by the Bose Amp in the trunk?
6) Bose Amp output/channel?
I think having the answers to these questions by those of you that have actually seen and know would help out Many of us here on the Forum with 2005 G35 Coupes with the Bose package.
If you only have 1, 2, etc. answers, go ahead and post them.
Thanks, and looking forward to the factual answers.

These are my best remembrances for my 2004 coupe as I was putting together my audio system - the data has been posted in other (old) threads by someone who measured resistances and deduced the impedances:
1) Front 6.5" Mids: 2 Ohm
2) Front Tweeters: 4 Ohm
3) Rear 6.5" Mids: 2 Ohm
4) Rear 6x9" subs: ? Ohm (I disconnected these, cannot recall, I think 2 ohm)
5) Are the 6x9" speakers powered by the Bose Amp in the trunk? yes
6) Bose Amp output/channel? unknown but speculated to be about 35W (based on the claim of 222 total watts for 6 speakers)

I'll be swapping out my Bose fronts with Polk Components this weekend... I'll let ya know if I can find out...
I'd swap them all out eventually... the speakers are basically paper/cardboard type material... very cheap. Plus, the Bose amp is .... eh, Bose, and only really power the rears.
Oh, who cares about the quoted wattage of the system... Those kind of specs are generally "peak" power and have no indication as to the "true" power (RMS) of the speakers/system itself. A speaker with 40RMS Watts of power can easily blow away a speaker with 500w Peak power... it's all marketing...
Oh wait, that's right... we've got BOSE.
Isn't their motto: "Better Sound Thru Marketing" lol

Babiephat,
I was asking about the power output (hoping for RMS) to answer for myself which approach I want to take to upgrading the system. By that i mean, does it have enough to power after market speaker x?
Obviously, if I want to do this upgrade right, I should only worry about the size of the speaker that will fit in each location I want to replace. Then remove the stock components (speakers/amp) and replace them with aftermarket equipment. But that starts to pose a monetary constraint.
I think el_duderino is correct in his proposal to replace the factory amp with an aftermarket amp with balanced inputs, then replace the front components. I would also replace the rear side speakers as well. But I don't mind the bass output as much as I would mind losing trunk space...ANY trunk space.
I see that we need a spacer for the front and rear speakers for aftermarket applications, so here is another question: Can we fit 6.75" speakers in the 6.5" speaker locations if the hole is already too big?
