How much should this install cost? This est seems high!!!

Here is what I need done:

Disconnect Factory 6x9s and backseat speakers for good
Remove Factory 6.5s and tweeters from doors for good

Install 6.5s and tweeters in stock door positions
Install 4channel amp(to run components and sub)
Install JL12w4 into box and attatch to amp(I already have the box)

Use a LOC to wire the amp correctly.

So how much should this straightforward and simple install cost?
Car Toys just quoted me $520.78

This seems way high. And if it is, what should it be? Lastly, where in the DFW area do I get this done(preferably closer to Ft. Worth)?

Got two buddies that both work at Car Toys, that are doing my system as a side job. Costing me less than half that for about the same amount of work. They might do it this weekend if they have time.

I'm guessing that they are using an LOC to do something they don't know how to do.

Whenever an installer has to do something he doesn't know how to do, he charges more for it.

And how much of that is the LOC? Which one are they using? Which amp are they installing?

I am providing the PAC OEM to help install an infinity reference 600w 4channel amp. Amazingly, they refused to offer an itemized list!!!

There were so many red flags coming up that I decided any haggling over the price would be futile. In fact, they even offered me the JL Clearpass at a 'discount' of $350

you shouldnt be spending more than $200-$250 for the install. If you need an amp kit, then add about $50 to that price.

Your quote was definitely high..

How long will you be in DFW? I'll see if my buddies can do your car too.

until I can move back into New Orleans, which won't be until at least November at the rate things are progressing back home.

Let me know if anything can be worked out!

*Edit. I still haven't bought the LOC yet. Where did you get your Soundgate LOCPREA? I am thinking of getting the same but want to go ahead and order it so I can get it ASAP

I haven't bought it yet. The guys said they'll just use the $10 house brand LOC, they've used on previous G35 installs.

I have two house brand LOCs in my current setup, and I think they are adding engine whine to the system. I can hear very faint engine whine even when the radio is off. I doubt it's my amp that's causing it.... but it could be.
