Nav System/DVD

I have the navigation system in G35 sedan and I want to know what I would have to do to play DVD's on it. has anyone tried this yet? If so, can you tell me what I have to do and how much it would be?

Re: Nav System/DVD

The general consensus at this point in time seems to be... install an aftermarket DVD player. It is possible to play through the in-dash pop-up screen and get the sound through the car's stereo, though. Just search these forums for keywords like "DVD" "nav" "movies" etc., and you'll find lots of examples with pictures of what people have been doing. The search button is hiding in the black bar at the very top of the page.

There is currently no known way to make the Nav DVD drive play movies directly, not to say someone won't figure it out in the future.

Re: Nav System/DVD

It can be done - I have asked the question but really when it comes down to it, it is very involved and rather expensive. Plus you really have to know what you are doing to get the job done. Besides - how often are you going to watch movies while you are driving to make it worth it. I say maintain the integrity of your car.

www.avelectronics.com
They've got a Nav/TV tuner... not exactly what you're looking for, but it's the easiest way to get the job done.

Re: Nav System/DVD

I just installed the DVD/TV tuner to my G earlier this month.
I purchased my converter from www.avelectronic.com.
Ask for SAM...email them at sales@avelectronic.com.
Price is $495 + Shipping...DVD Player of choice is up to you...I installed a PS2 on my so I can play games and I jus installed a 10" pre-amped bazooka tube this weekend...the combination kicks *** and a well upgrade to our stock BOSE...Heads are turning when people see a movie playing and your sound is thumpin! XM Sat Radio also helps too
Tell SAM (Bobby Kwok) sent ya! Email me for more pics!

Re: Nav System/DVD

They say that using a PS2 to play DVD movies ruins the lens over time, therefore, when reading games it will not be as fast/quality/etc.

It's still a G thang!!

I think I might order the 10 Disc Changer from www.avelectronic.com later. I find myself ejecting the disc a lot...its still tight though..Thanks for the tip! =)

Re: Nav System/DVD

Dude, that looks so f---in cool on the screen. The price for that converter is not that bad at $495 plus shipping. So you think I should I go with that? It looks so good with the pics you sent me with the movies playing. I really want to do this, so I will let you know what I end-up doing or if I have any questions.
