hey el_duderino

Hey man,

Do you know where I can source a "Balanced Input" plug that would fit into my sub amp that I have? This would be the ideal input compared to the RCA's right?

The Soundgate LOCPREA www.soundgate.com

THe Peripheral SVEN (i dunno)

Or my new trick for great sound is to tap in RCAs and use a good ground loop isolator like the SOundgate ISOLITE or the Jensen IsoMax for $200.

Please realize that a balanced signal is just that, it is a signal, not a special kind of plug.

Balanced signals run over regular speaker wires and also RCA cables/plugs, like I am doing in my setup. If your amp accepts a balanced signal on it's RCA inputs, simply connect some RCA plugs to the speaker wires in your car (before the stock Bose amp) and have a blast. If your amp does not accept a balanced signal, you must convert the balanced signal running on your car's speaker wires to a standard single-ended signal running on some RCA cables you can connect to your amp's inputs.

The products mentioned by el_duderino does this signal convertion and outputs the signal on RCAs that you can connect to your amp.

If you look at my amp pic, it has a balanced signal input plug along w/ typical RCA inputs.

It sure does, that is a special connector that is not standard.

A couple of companies have used various mini-DINs for this kind of balanced singal, and they depend on a transmitter up front that accepts single-ended.

You MIGHT be able to get an OEM to work, but you'd need to get the schematic of the plug. Zed audio is the OEM for old Hifonics, Autotek, etc, but I don't have any idea how to get in touch with them.

I did find this with google:

ZED Audio
USA based company run by SA audio designer Stephen Mantz, company is primarily occupied a design house and an OEM manufacturer for other car audio companies, but is apparently going to introduce a line of their own car audio amplifiers soon (and may already have when you read this). Some background information on the company can be found here.
Zed Audio Corp., 759 Cochran St. A & B, Simi Valley, CA 93065, USA.
Tel : +(805) 526 5315. Fax : +(805) 526-8572. E-mail : zedaudioat aol.com.
