recommend a 4ohm 10" sub?
Looks like my edesign 11Ov.2 isn't going to get here in time for my install this weekend. (backordered till DECEMBER!!) I have 2 of their NINe.2X amp that i'm going to be running the components and sub with. Its not recommended that I run it bridged at 2ohms, so i need to find a good quality sub that will run at 4ohms ~600watts. Can anyone recommend one?
the 10W6v2 is out because its DVC 4ohm. I was thinking maybe the DVC 2ohm Eclipse aluminum sub, or maybe a OZ audio Matrix DVC 2ohm sub. Comments? this is going in a 4080 box. Thanks!

hrm... those look like good choices... im seriously considering that OZ sub...
on the other hand, another method could be to mount 2 8" subs on the rear deck in a suspended sealed box. 2 8w3v2s or 2 8w7s would do the trick. that means I would have to sell my 4080 box. which do you think would sound better (sq) and get louder? the 2 8s would be getting ~300watts each @ 2ohms.

the 8w7's would be a nice option. You might lose a little low end extension with that setup, but it would still sound very good.
Personally, i'd probably give the pair of 8w7s a try. I've always been very impressed by those subs. If you could do a ported box witht e 8w7's, that would be even better. They get pretty loud with a ported box, but they seem to retain their sq properties as well. Keep in mind that the ported box would have to be designed properly. However, if you hear a properly designed ported box with these subs, i think you'll be impressed.
Normally i dont prefer ported setups for SQ, but with the jl's i have to.

wonder if Rudy at Sound Advice can properly design a ported box on the rear deck for 2 8w7s.... hrm...
have you heard them in a sealed box before? if so, how'd it sound?
the 8w7s are pretty deep so i wonder if there will be enough room underneath the suspended box to still have a usuable fold down rear seat.
how much low end extension would i lose? in my last car, i had a sealed ~1cuft box with a infinity perfect 12" so my Point of reference is coming from that...
anyone want to buy a 4080 box brand new?

They still sound good sealed, but they sound great ported. Witht hem sealed, you will lose some output and extension. With 8's, you want to maximize those areas as much as possible, which is what the ported box will do in this case.
