You dont need the DD Bracket? Then why do they make 2 versions?

I've been reading that you dont need the bracket for the eclipse avn 5435 or the last years unit. But why do they make 2 versions of the of double din bracket? Do all years of the g35 require no bracket whatsoever, or do the stock brackets just fit perfectly for eclipse units?
