Question on system for 05 sedan w/navi

Alright i have been reading a lot of posts about different system setups and figured i would ask what you thought of mine. I am planning on keeping my stock HU and adding 2 500/1 a 450/4 ZR 650 components up front and XR 650 coax in rear with 2 W7's providing the lows. I also might throw in a DVD player so my question is... is the JL audio cleansweep the best thing to use since it provides outputs for the dvd player and amps or should i use something else. Any response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

No, I would not use the CS.

I would get a PAC adapter for your input to the radio from the DVD.

For your HU interface I would use a Soundgate LOCPREA or two...or just wire the outputs to RCAs, as your JL amps have balanced inputs and that's what your HU outputs.

I really think the OP of your HU is flat and non-EQ'd, and as such you do not need a Clean Sweep. The EQ probably lives in the amp.

Oh, and I think the JL components are a weak point in your system and I'd consider something better. DLS? Morel? Even Focal?

Thanks for responding El, so as far as wiring the amps are you saying to splice into the wires at the HU before the amp and run those to the RCA inputs on the amp? Unfortunatly i dont have access to listening to any Focals or really any other high end components sets so have to ask you what you dislike about the JL's plus the other reason i am going with the JL's is because i can get them at cost through my friends store, not neccesarily set on JL but i had XR comps in Jetta and liked them, you definintly know what your talking about so i value your opinion.

Yes, that's what I'm saying. Before you cut any wires, you should use a voltmeter and test that these wires change coltage with the volume setting, but that's what I would do. The JL amps have inputs for this... they even make these adapters for it (which you don't need to buy, just buy an RCA and cut it in half).

The JL's tweeters are kinda overrated IMO. If you can get a sweet deal, then great, but what else does your friend sell?

Yeah definitly will use the voltmeter, unfortunatly the market here doesnt quite have a demand for real high end stuff so my options are JL, MB Quart and of course Alpine Pioneer Kicker. So i think my best bet are the JL's since i can get them for such a good deal. I really dont want to buy anything over the internet soo... Thanks for the responses by the way Dude.

If you can get Alpine X type they outperform the JL. Serious. Not R, not S, but X.

Alright as far as tapping into the outputs of the HU is the sound quality going to be good or will the cleansweep or the soundgate help. Sorry i just want to make sure that i am getting the best setup since it would be pointless to spend the money on good components etc and not get good connections. Thanks a lot.
