05 MP3 CD Player

For those of you with the 2005 G35s that's MP3 capatable (CD-R & CD-RW) are you able to get the title/artist to appear on the display?

It doesn't read the ID3 tags. It will just display the first few characters (first 8 i think, never counted) of the mp3 file name. You can press the DISP button and it will continue with the file name until you reach xxxx.mp3 and starts from the beginning again. It does not auto-scroll like RDS.

do you burn all of the mp3s onto the root of the cd or do you make subfolders for different artists?

all of my mp3s are rips from cds w/ full ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags filled in yet it wont show up on the display. i see "track x" and "folder 1".. i don't have any folders.

i used nero to burn the cd.

You haven't played enough with the DISP button. Hold it down for a while again and it will go to the folder name, the artist (from the ID3 tags), the title (from the ID3 tags) and back to nothing. (Have to release and then hold down DISP each time) Works great.

I do both. Root really isn't required since random will randomly enter subdirectories as well, so you can separate your music and still get the random functionality on the whole disc.

Oh, and play with that DISP button. Hold it down for about 5 seconds and see what's displayed. Then repeat until you get to what you want.

thanks, that's the answer i was looking for!

i did put all of the music in the root directory but it got mixed up since i have the track #, then artist, then title.

if i made subdirectories for each album, would it play the songs in order by track #, then skip ahead to the second directory?

In regular play mode, yes. Each subdirectory is treated like a separate CD (root is a CD also), so you can move to different directories using the steering wheel controls as well.

i've also had problems dumping all my music into the root. if i fill a disc completely by using the root alone ... my deck just keeps 'reading..' the disc and i can't access anything. not sure if anyone else has experienced this. then again it is a blose... and mine could just be screwed up.
