Amp Preinstall help/advice
I finally made the decision to get a JL 300/4 (purchased from Ebay). To power my front MB Quart PCE 216 which i had installed about a year ago, and recently with just the front speaker upgrade is not enough for me. And I also bought the 8 guage amp kit from KnuKoncept.com
Ok here is the problem:
I have read many post about wiring the amp but still not clear, i have decided to get rid of the blose amp completely. Which means im tapping the signal before bose amp. And doing this Im thinking to just use speaker wire to RCA to connect to the 300/4. but i have problem finding the right wire to do so...I have found this http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...5Fid=42%2D2370. Is this the right one that i should use? or there are better option? or should I go with soundgate LOC4.4?
Advice needed:
Should I go with upgraded 6x9 or a sub? And these would also power by the 300/4. Im on a tight budget here.
If a sub im thinking about 10w1v2d4? and do i get 2ohm or 4ohm?no clue here...
At the end im aiming for SQ, I listen to mostly vocal stuff, pop, chillout music, jazz, some hiphop.
Please help out guys...

I would go with the soundgate LOC.
2. Should I go with upgraded 6x9 or a sub?
This depends, if you dont care about trunk space then go with a sub.
3. If a sub im thinking about 10w1v2d4? and do i get 2ohm or 4ohm?no clue here.
Well, I have no clue here either.
4. At the end im aiming for SQ, I listen to mostly vocal stuff, pop, chillout music, jazz, some hiphop.
Don't we all want SQ. since you are on a budget, do what I did, change the front speaker and add a Amp/sub, and leave the 6x9 alone.

LOL.
1) You don't need an LOC. Ask amthar. What you need is an RCA that you're not afraid to cut in hal - preferably twice as long as the distance from your amp to your Bose amp (so you can use both halves) and preferably twisted pair.
2) Sub will sound better.
3) If you are running a 300/4, and 1/2 of that would run your sub, it doesn't matter. The 300/4 puts out the same power into 2 or 4 ohms. So the amp doesn't care. I'd get a SVC 4 if you can.
4) No, you don't ALL want SQ (but a lot of you sure say you do).
You will notice that with an amp the vocals thru the MBQs will get a bit strained and maybe fatiguing to listen to after a little while.
Then you'll probably upgrade those...

what is a SVC? Single Voice Coil? is JL 10w1v2 SVC? coz im thinking of that. any other sub to suggest in the price range
The 10w1v2 is an SVC subwoofer. They make a 4 ohm version (what you would need) and an 8 ohm version (what you would NOT need).
All JL subs that are DVC have a "D" in their model # or otherwise denote they are "DVC" or "dual voice coil" on their spec page(s). Example: 10w3v2d4 is a 10w3v2 in a dual 4 ohm voice coil configuration.
Dual voice coil amps provide you with more wiring configurations (to obtain different resistance/load rating), but as you have a JL "slash" series amp with a variable/regulated power supply, this is not as much of a benefit as with standard non-regulated amps (as your amp produces the same amount of wattage/output at any resistance between [including] 1.5ohms and 4 ohms).
SVC subs are much more straight forward in the "connect and go" sense.

Ok here is what i will get later today...
JL 10w1v2 4ohm
4080 box
Metra 70-7551 amp adaptor (so i dont have to cut up the stock wiring and my new rcas)
any suggestions in how to bolt the amp down, and where is the best grounding spot. is it ok to drill the metal floor where the bose amp is now, to mount the new amp?
