Wonder if you can put one of those in the 03.5!

From what i've been able to ascertain
the display and control units of the nav(what sits in the center console) of the 06 are the exact same as the 05.

not sure about 03/04

but for 05 people.
We would simply have to buy the nav unit that sits in the glovebox

same wiring, same harness.

I'm trying to find more information on the manufacturer of the nav
but from what i can tell.

Infiniti probably uses this same central nav computer for all of their car models. (saves money)

Thats why it says some "features" aren't supported in the G35.
Now whether they are turned off in firmware/bios(flashing anyone?)
is a different story. I wonder if the connectors for those features
would still be located in the back. (it'd save money to leave the connectors there but unused as running several different "runs" for each infiniti model would be cost-prohibitive to simply just configuring them a certain way)

as for how much the unit in question costs.. I'd just ask a infiniti parts supplier and see how much they'd quote you... IMHO it'd be ridiculous like 800 or 1200 probably.

for that much you could get a AVIC-D1 or build a Carputer to connect to your OEM navi display that would have much more functionality.

I had an 03.5 before my 06, and the new navi is way better. It actually speaks the name of the street you are to turn on, also the detailed split screen when you get to turns and intersections is a lot easier to use.

I studied all the '06 schematics and the retrofit for '03-'05 and it is a no go. It will involve more than just the Navi unit. The new screen has a bi-direction comm channel that the older ones do not among other things.

This project is officially dead for me. :[
