OEM sirius tuning question
I was thinking about getting an OEM sirius kit for the G, but a 2 quick questions...
1.) How long does it take to change stations? (how much of a delay between the music of one station and the music of the next station when you change the channel)
2.) How long before the song info is displayed? (the title, artist, etc).
I rented a car with sirius when i was out of town and there was a couple second delay before I heard the music on the new station and a 7-10 second delay before the song information was displayed. That is so annoying that it would likely dissuade me from getting sirius. The rental car had an fm modulator, so I don't know if that would make any kind of difference.

Its about a second delay between stations and the song info takes about 3 seconds to come up.
I would attribute this to the oem tuner and its not a xm vs sirius thing. If you really want something quicker I would look at some off the shelf tuners.
Personally I found the stations I liked and I programed into the quick keys. If you are obsessed with displays and tunning you should look into aftermarket systems.

The car's head unit appears to poll the tuner for display information every 1-2 seconds. Those of us with a Phatbox with the scrolling SAT firmware see this delay very clearly. So, some of the delay is actually in the HU. My Sirius tuner tunes into stations pretty quick though. The only thing that gets annoying is when Sirius sends down a lineup change. When that happens I'm sometimes unable to tune into some stations for a few minutes. The same thing happens to a friend's Kenwood tuner though, so I don't think it's car specific.
You won't get signal strength readings or scrolling text, but it's functional enough for me. I would like a better display but it's not a dealbreaker.
