I was also going to wire it into the mirror, but it didn't make sense if I was going to use the remote display. I just ran my V1 with remote display to the fuse box. Zero wires cut and it was very easy. I placed a DIY on here somewhere. Just FYI.

i used the remote in the beginning as well......but after a while i found reaching for the remote (it was plugged into the cig lighter) took my focus off the road as i looked down and to find the mute button......now that the detector is attached to the mirror, it is easier (and safer IMO) to use the controls on the detector, the same eye movement as looking in your rearview mirror allows me to use the mute without looking down to find the remote......much improved

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but will the hardwiring only work for the Homelink equipped rear view mirrors? If this is true, is there another good place to tap into the car's power around that area without having to pull down the headliner/A pillar covers, if I dont have the homelink mirror? Thanks guys.

^ Nope, youll have to run the wire down or try to tap into your vanity light's power, which is in the head liner and will require some popping of trim.

Thanks. I guess I'll do the tuck under headliner/A pillar method.
