Question for those with Eclipise AVN 5435

Is it me or does it take forever to play a MP3 cd on the AVN? When I put the disk in takes like 2-3 min for it to load and afterwards take 1-2 min to switch songs but after that its normal response.....is anyone experiencing this or is it just me. Could it be that I have too many folders in the disk? What programs are you using to burn your music?

Also has anyone been able to put audio files into a DVD and get it to play in the AVN?

Ive gotten a few complaints from customers on the speed, others say its fine. My only guess is either some people are more patient than others, or is a software thing. I personally am not too into MP3s, so I couldnt tell ya that one.

if its 2-3 minuntes, then yeah youre burning it incorrectly... on mines i'd say it takes a good 10-15 seconds to load, and 2-5 seconds to play...

Eclipse recommends: 44.1 KHz, 128 kbps, ISO9660 Lul1 or 2, MODE 1 (not 2)... burn in this mode and i'll bet it will load faster!

keep us posted!

You know, I was considering this HU, bit if it doesn't like anything over 128kbps it's definitely not for me. I only do MP3s at vbr ("variable bit rate") for the added quality. This means that they can go from 64kbps at simple, quiet sections to 320kbps at really complex sections. If the AVN is going to choke at this, that's a Bad Thing. Certainly my old Alpine didn't have problems with this, nor does the stock Blose/Clarion HU.

I can understand not liking a nonstandard disk layout (the ISO9660 thing), but not the bitrate thing.

nah, it still works at a higher bitrate, thats just what they recommend... and i think vbr works also...

and this is for my AVN 2494, not the newer 54 series, can someone look it up in there manual and confirm this?!

Did you find a digital copy of the AVN5435 manual? I have the paper manual that came with the head unit, but I sure would like to have a digital copy too.

I looked all over Eclipse's website, but couldn't find one.

Thanks! I appreciate it!

Where the heck did you find this? I'd like to get the Navigation and Reference Guides too.

Always nice to have an electronic copy at work... for emergencies...

what programs are you all using to burn your music from anyways? im currently using itunes to burn music out. it creates like a folder for every song for some reason....this is what i think is taking my loading times...

i agree that when i first start my car it does take about 1-15 seconds for it to play a song but when i want to change to another song/folder then here is when the program arises.. it would take forever to go to another song/folder... im trying to burn with nero now so i'll let everyone know whats up tommorrow

i'm new at mp3 stuff too. Rather than purchase a changer I would rather use the MP3 set up. Can I record songs from my CDR on the computer and burn them into an mp3 folder? how do you do it? I have an mp3 player down loaded from the internet
