CDT Components installed

I finally had a little bit of time this weekend to install my CDT component set. Unfortunately I wasn't able to install my amps and sub yet so I can't tell you yet how it really sounds in my car. This is a great set of comps that are hard to beat for a little over $200 delivered. Here's a pic of the installed comp set:

I still need to install the sound dampening on my doors also.

See, KHsonic? They don't ALL get UP6!

Congrats! What do you like about the sound? What songs are you listening to?

The CDTs have a warm, laid back sound but also with a lot of detail. I can't stand harsh tweeters and the CDTs have a very smooth and natural sound.

I listen mostly to hard rock with some metal and blues thrown in.

Where did you get those mounting rings for the speakers? Did you make them, buy them, etc.?

BTW, I'd seal the front edges up against the back of the door...

I made them out of 3/4" MDF and then painted them flat black.

Yep, I'll be adding some of the foam weatherstripping around the perimeter of the grill on the panel side to help with that. I didn't have any on hand yesterday to do it. I could see by looking up from the bottom of the door panel that there's a little gap between the woofer and panel.

Hey, how did you mount the tweeters? Are they in the stock location? Do you have any pics? I'm trying to install my CDT components and the tweeter is pretty thick so it's giving me trouble.

I answered your PM but in case if anyone else is wondering, here's a pic of how I mounted the CDT tweeter in the stock location.

AVJunkie, thanks for the picture. So looks like the CTD tweeter fits fine in the stock location? Did you have to make any modifications to the stock panel or the tweeter itself to get it to fit? Thanx.

Yep, the CDT tweeter fit just fine in the stock location with no modifications necessary. My car is a lease so everything that I put in has to be able to come back out.
