Valentine1 location for coupe w/sunroof?

I've been searching for a while and I've seen most of the installs but none of the installs I've seen are on a coupe w/sunroof. If I put mine on top of my mirror there won't be any room between the mirror and the suglass holder for the rear detector. Thanks in advance.

Place the V1 under the rear view mirror. I have a long post on instructions about wiring the V1 to the wires in the mirror housing. Look for prior posts, e.g.:
Hard Wire V1 w/premium package.

Or you could do it the Lazy mans way. Just attach the suction cups on the Windshield just above the Center council readout. ( Where your A/C display and Temp controls are displayed. Run the Coiled wire down the side and use the drivers side Cigg lighter outlet....... I've done this in Both My Cars My Coupe and My Dad's Sedan. I've yet to get a Ticket Despite Travels to Vegas and San Francisco Many times..... I better go Knock on Wood.....

Keep in mind the rear antenna of the V1 works best when it can "see" through the rear window. I tried the position as you described and decided that it is sitting too far below the rear window. I ended up mounting my V1 to the right of the rear-view mirror.

I made a custom mount and posted pics of it last year. It allows a good solid location for the V-1 and it allows me to mount/dismount the unit in 2-3 seconds (including power) with just 1 hand.

Whether the coupe has a sunroof or not should not matter. The roof console is the same with or without the sunroof. The mirror will rotate down and then back straight again to allow plenty of room for the V1 to fit on top of it. My V1 seems to be able to "see" backwards just fine. It has alerted me to patrols from the rear many times.

gordgee: How is your custom mount "mounted"? It looks like it's attached to the windshield. Did you use the suction cups?

lebushaw: Can you post a pic of your setup? I have my mirror as low as I can put it and still see out of the back window and there isn't much room for a V1. Mine is supposed to arrive today so I'll be able to try your setup.

It's mounted with 3M industrial double stick. On there basically permanently, but can be removed with some difficulty.

Re: Valentine1 location for coupe w/sunroof?

I installed mine to the right of the rear view so its in front of the sunglass holder. It's just far enough to the right so the rear antenna can see out of the back window.
