2006 2005 coupe 6mt (manual) and automatic pac aai-nis ipod install instructions

sorry for the long title, but i tried to include all the keywords i had tried when i did my search.

this is for my 2005 6mt coupe. follow the link for the 2006 automatic coupe. dash is very similar.

so since i had a hard time finding out how to do this, here are the instructions that i followed:

http://g35ipod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=85

you'll need this link to look at the dash disassembly:
http://www.6mt.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9640

and of course the installation instructions from g35ipod (follow first link regarding which steps to disregard):
http://g35ipod.com/installHW.php?skin=1&src=forum

some notes:
- jerry903 on ebay also gave me an imitation product from peripheral electronics. it works fine. it's the pxni. www.peripheralelectronics.com
- print out the instructiosn before hand,or have a laptop handy.
- i didnt' bother disconnecting the battery, cuz i figured it'd be fine. i'm still here, so i guess it was.
- be patient with the alum removal around the stick, just keep working at it and it'll come out.
- really be careful with the aluminim, as it scratches so easily, as i found out
- for the removal of the plastic around the clock... start with the top overhang, pull that towards you, and it should slide right out.
- afterwards, you can pry the bottom plastic piece out from under the clock and that will expose the top most screw anchoring down the hvac mount
- when removing the side panels, follow the instrucions exactly... remove the screw, then pull that end up, and rotate it towards the top, like the instructions say in that link. you'll prolly have to move the plastic behind the where the screw was located out of the way (it pops up)
- there is a lot of room underneath the hvac unit, so i had plenty of room to place my extra cord length (i used 6 feet), and also, i installed a 2nd audio and left it all coiled underneath, in case later on i want to add another input, i wouldn't have to take apart the whole thing again, i can now just pop out the consoles and get the 2nd audio cable if i need it later.
- i didnt' drill any holes. i strung one audio card, underneath the consoles and had it pop out at the top end of the ebrake.

it took me 2 hours total.

total damage:
-scratched up the alum console a little, gonna try some brasso on it.
-one of the clips from the alum console around the stick fell down into oblivion
-dropped a screwdriver onto the paint by the door frame on the bottom, so a little nick, no big deal.

if anyone has questions, PM me.

Great instructions ckat! Now, I wished this was available a month ago when I hardwired my iPod. It took me a whole day, but realized afterwards I didn't need to do most of the steps on G35iPod.com. And yes, be careful with the aluminum interior. It does scratch very easily!
I too have scratches on the aluminum trim. Let me know how the brasso works.
