Powering ps2/dvd player - question

i am planning on getting my navi to recieve video imput - my question does not have to do with that, i have that figured out allready on my own.

What i am worried about is getting power to my actual PS2 and/or DVD player WITHOUT having to use an inverter - at least not showing. What i want is to have my ps2 in my glovebox, with the power cable hardwired somehow to turn on and off with the car.

After searching for hours i cant find any detailed instructions, would appreciate a response.

Thanks in advanced.

edit: im planning on using the tvandnav2go, with the PAC AAI-NIS unit as RashMan1450 did in https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-video-electronics/73766-my-nav-plays-music-videos-pics.html

My invertor is under my passenger seat. It's powered from the battery with a switch. I didn't see the need to have the invertor kick on every time I start the car. If you still want it to come on with the key tap the cig lighter on the passenger side.

A nice option that we use in many of our clients cars is the gameplate. Here is the link:

What this does is have an hidden power inverter that gives you on the plate itself that can be flushed mounted into part of the car or a custom bracket like in this case shown. It gives you a stereo rca input and a single video input as well. Also a AC plug. Let us know for further questions, eiterh call or e-mail directly. Always glad to help.

thanks for the info - the problem is i dont want to have any wires running across the floors, i want everythign to out of site - another thing is, remember, im useing a PS2, not a dvd player. Im planning on putting a ps2 slim in the glove box, with the cables falling out the back to the pac unit/tvnav - my question is....how would i be able to power it efficiently without having any cables show =\

I kinda like the inverter under the passanger, but then again, is there another way to do it? and wouldnt the moving seats interfer with it?

DVD pS2

I have the av electronics unit but besides that had hte same setup your looking for. I went to radio shack and bought a power outlet that i used to splice the passenger side unit. I then bought a really thin power inverter they had which fit in the snap off panel under the glove compartment. i then had the wires where the passenger's left foot would be hidden behind the carpet and under teh console. The av electronics unit was by the right foot in the panel so. You can probably hide a lot of the stuff in that hole, just be sure to wrap the electronics and wiring in something to protect it from anything that could happen overtime. The ps2 would only power on when the car was on and would turn off otherwise.

This was enough to power the slim ps2 for the entire time i had it in there. I just switched from the PS2 to a dvd player console i bought from g352nv but the setup is flawless otherwise. I got annoyed having to keep the glove comparment open to have the power wires attached but you can dremel some ports to make the fit more stealth. I personally didn't want to cut open my comparment.

Hope this helps.

what i decided to do is purchase this a car adaptor from ebay, which has an inverter after the plug, therefor it will be converting the power (at least i think...) the one that was suggested above has the inverter in theplug itself it seems, so had to pick one up from ebay that looked like it can work.

will keep you guys posted - will be hardwireing that to the back of the cig lighter in ashtray

I think you need to take your car to a shop.

I have a PS2, headrest monitors, headphone jacks for each monitor, the avelectronic box, an ipod docking station, and a valentine1 with remote. There are no exposed wires in my car.

It was all installed by me and that was over 2 years ago. There will be no problems with the invertor under the seat.

What I'm trying to say is if you know what you're doing you can put just about anything in the car without having any wires exposed.
