car will be out of comission for about a month. another daily driver is a must, as is the space and security to store the car while youre working on it. im only able to work 8 to 10 hours a week on the car so the process is taking awhile.

Been working on the car for about 6 weeks. FINALLY got to drive it Friday for the first time since Thanksgiving! Stereo is almost 90% done. Got speakers, amps, HU, processor, iPod, wiring, dampening, etc. all in. All that is left to do is wrap the kick panels, fab trim pieces for the amp rack and sub. Thought Id share some install pics to this point. Lot more pics if you guys are interested.

How do you like that Alpine center channel speaker? I'm thinking of replacing my clarion srk5 with that one. The clarion sounds great IMO, but looks like a$$ since its 1/2 din.

Alpine center works great for what I use it for. Mostly just for 5.1 and DTS with the movies but some(-6db) with music to fill in soundstage. I think I paid like $80 on ebay.

What is that horizontal thing between the HU and the speaker? Did you need a "spacer" of some sorts?

thanks all. the alpine units have a gap between them. maybe because i didnt use the supplied trim ring, not sure, but could align the units in a way that there wasnt a gap between them. ive heard of other guys having the same issues with other 1 din units. i used some abs plastic to fill the gap.
