Sat. radio antenna install with tint?

I was wondering if anyone has installed the sat. radio antenna install on the rear deck with tint on the window? I was thinking about putting it there but if the tint will interfere, I will put it on the roof (ugly). Input please...

I installed my antenna on the back deck on the corner, yes my back window is tinted no problems . One thing though I did not use the Clarion antenna that came with the kit (big and buttass ugly)

ohh

i thought you meant inside the car, on the back deck, as oppose to the trunk

I have the rear window of my coupe tinted with 20% Madico tint and it doesn't seem to affect the signal. I do loose signal at times but it seems to be related to overhead items and not the antenna placement itself. For instance if I am in my garage and the garage door is OPEN I don't get a signal. I am thinking this is because the aluminum is directly above it causing it to loose signal.

Different tints will be different though from what I understand. If you have a tint that is metallic it will cause problems.

Friend of mine installed a Sirius kit in his new Mustang and mounted the antenna to the front dash board because of the tint he has. That could be an option for you if you have problems.

I don't want to mount it on the outside either. It can be fugly.

Good luck!

Scott

Its all related to the metallic content of your tint. Some people have to retint the section above the anntena...

You might try the front dash. Both my nav and xm antennae are there. Reception is great and they don't really stand out/look bad.
