Separate speaker for the nav voice?

There have been a few posts about ways to retain the nav voice with an OEM nav unit and a replacement of the Bose HU:

For those that are registered over at my350z, I think onecoolee gets credit:

Anyways - a question for those that have done it: what speaker did you use?

I've got all of the pieces, looks simple enough to hook up, I'll give it a try. The thread above mentions a 4 ohm 4" speaker. Do people think the impedance is critical in this application? If I have to guess, I'm going to look for a single 4 ohm, 3.5" or 4" speaker with as high an efficiency as I can find that will have freq response that should be suitable for the voice.

Since the Nav's output is line level, you are going to need an amplifier also. Consider a simple 12V speaker/amp combo like this Radio Shack item:

Or even a smaller one (but you will have to somehow provide 9V):

Thanks, that one reply (thanks Noremac) with an economic alternative to using an expensive ($100+) amplified auto center channel was worth the post. Reading the former info though, it sounds as though they may have escaped with hooking up a speaker directly to the output from the NAV (which surprised me....). Sounds as though I may have to experiment a bit?

To be honest, after 4 hrs in the car today listening to the NAV lady interrupting my music to tell me to stay on the same highway, voice may handy sometimes but......
