Opinions on speaker upgrades...
I'm in the process of putting two ED EU-700 subs in my trunk. I'm worried that the added bass is going to make the stock speakers sound like ****, so I'll probably upgrade those as well. The question is whether or not you think just replacing the speakers with Inifinty Kappas running off the Bose amp will be good enough or should I get different speakers and a new amp? I'm not trying to blow my ears out, I just want it to be nice and clear and not be drowned out by the subs.
Well, if you do some searching you will find that there are plenty of people who have added just subs to their Bose systems and have been happy. Upgrading to the Kappa's running off the stock amp certainly makes a HUGE difference and leaves you the option of adding an amp later on. It will certainly be a major upgrade over the stock Bose system in every way.
Yeah, I've been reading some posts about just swapping out the speakers and keeping the stock amp. Most people seem to be pretty happy w/ it. I guess I was just hoping that someone might have compared a system w/ a stock amp vs. an aftermarket amp.
The Bose amp is a very weak link in that it is higher in distortion and lower in power than any aftermarket amp I can think of. If you are even thinking a bit about upgrading the amp, go ahead and do it.
Then you can get a set of DLS UP6 components : )
