Couple of questions about buying a used JL 500/1 from a bud

My friend has a jl500/1 just sitting in his house. He used it in a car for a while with the factory system in a non premium 03 g35. I think its probably about a year and a half old... would this be a good buy if the price is right? I'm not trying to go cheap by any means... but i was planning on a jl 500/1 and 4080 box next... and if the amp works fine why not? Have jl amps greatly improved over that period of time or anything? I will be powering a 10w6v2 with it

I'd search on ebay to get an average price of what they're going for.

Can you ask your friend how he hooked it up in the non-premium G35? I'm thinking about adding some new stuff to mine, but I'd greatly appreciate it if I had some info before I start. Most people here have the bose set up, so alot of info here can't work for me.

I bought a used JL 300/4 and a 250/1. Both work flawlessly and I saved a bundle. I'd say go for it if the price is right. The JL Audio slash series of amps have been around a while and are made very well. Do what dartmouth01 says and check out ebay for prices. It seems to be the way to measure market prices on almost everything these days.

Jl Slash Amps Are Great Quality, Very Good Useful Life.go For It. Check Ebay For Prices. I Just Sold One On This Site For 300 Plus Shipping For The Same Amp. TO ADD A SUBWOOFER AND AMP COMBO ALL YOU NEED IS A LINE OUT CONVERTER. IF YOU WANT TO KEEP IT STOCK(6DISC INDASH CHANGER) :4080 BOX,SUB(JLW6V2),AMP(JL500/1),L.O.C, RCA'S, POWER,AND REMOTE WIRES.,TERMINALS, AND MAYBE A FOUR CHANNEL AMP TO POWER NEW DOOR SPEAKERS(SMALL COST CONSIDERING IMPACT). SOUND WILL REALLY COME ALIVE.

JLs are solid amps. I have a 500/1 and a 300/4 I just took out of my Z to use for my G, both amps are 2 years old. I also have a 1000/1 in my Armada. FYI the amp ratings on the JLs are RMS (continuous power rating) rather than a peak number. If I was selling mine, I'd ask $250-300 for the 500/1. It should match 1 10w6 very well.

I'll be trading in my 500/1 for a 1000/1 when I put in (2) 10w6.

i got a good price and unfortunately... his brother has it at Auburn U. so he's gonna have to ship it to me... but still it'll be less, even with shipping, than you guys say you would ask or what ebay prices are before shipping so im gonna grab it before he realizes what a deal he's giving me. I wouldnt go used if it was on ebay most likely.... but since its a friend and he'll give me my money back if it has any problems... im not too worried about it... plus i know the history of the amp and it hasnt been used that much or that hard
