adding subs and amp

Ok I went to best buy to install amp and subs in my car. They told me something about tapping into a wire. I didn’t really get this. But they said they would tap into the wire by the rear speakers. i have the premium package in my car. So it already came with a sub. so i just want to upgrade my amp and subs. I just wanted to know if it would be a problem if they tapped into the back speaker wire. And why is it that they need to tap into the rear speaker wire? I ask because I never had to do this in any other car.

p.s. the reason am asking here is cause the guy told me he thinks that’s how it is but he’s really not sure. He told me to talk to someone in the shop but it was already closed.

Yeah, it's OK to do that. Sounds like he's planning on tapping the rear speakers to connect a Line Output Converter (LOC). A LOC takes a speaker output (high level) and turns it into a RCA signal (preamp level) to get the signal to an aftermarket amp. Some amps have the capability to accept speaker level outputs and RCAs. Do a search for sub amp install and tons of info will come up for you to read. Hope this helps.

Yes, it fine. Thats how my set up is. I running an alpine mono amp with a 10 inch jl. sounds good but make sure you get some dynomat or something of that nature. Lots of rattling. Good luck. How much are they charging you for the purchase and install, just wondering...
Let us know how it goes.
