Smile OEM Navi - Is it worth it?

I'm planning on getting a G35 couple in less than 6 months and wondering how's the navigation sys on the G35. Is it worth getting it and is the navigation software they have pretty good? I've used Lexus and Honda's navi system. Is the Infiniti sys up to par. Any input would be greatly appriciated.

I would go with a carPC with nav rather than the OEM nav. Of course, it's not really as easy as just saying you want a carPC, but that didn't stop me.

If you feel you want Nav or will want Nav I'd say go for the OEM Nav unit. Helps the cars resale and is the cleanest option with the best integration to the rest of the car.

My brother has a TSX and I find the Acura navigation system to be a little nicer than the Infiniti. The only advantage of the Infiniti system is the Birdseye view which I like.

I know there is a difference in increasing your car payments $35 a month for 5 years with OEM nav... and spending $2000 all at once..... but if i had to do it all over again... i would STILL go with my eclipse avn5435. My mom has a G35x with EVERY option and she is really jealous of my nav. After going touchscreen nav... i would NEVER go back. Its so much easier to input addresses or pretty much anything you wanna input. I also love the mp3 capability and the fact that i have a new headunit that is 1000x better than oem. The only thing that i see as a negative vs the oem nav (besides payments vs paying all at once) is the location. It is easier to see the nav in the oem spot. I really dont mind my NAV being down there... i just wish that when im playing music or adjusting something like that was up where factory nav is. I know it sounds dumb because the stock Head unit is in that location, but the stock head unit also doesnt display as much info or have you scanning through a 100 songs to find the name of the one you wanna play.....

The nav is definitely worth it, IMO, especially if you're getting an '06. The updated interface is so slick.

I didn't get it with my car. I said why pay 2K for something I already had and payed less than 500 bux for. Boy was I wrong! After a weekend of that damn thing falling off the dash and wires strung all over the cabin, I should have spent the dough.

It's my understanding that it cost way too much to do it AFTER.

I was going to go the carputer route, but I got lazy real fast. So, I went with the AVIC-D1.

$63.99 - Double Din Finisher http://www.grubbsperformance.com/Mer...e=G35CoupeDash
$199.99 - AC Controller http://www.grubbsperformance.com/Mer...e=G35CoupeDash
$12.99 - Metra Nissan Antenna Adapter http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Metra...oductDetail.do
$6.95 - Scosche NN03B http://www.cardomain.com/sku/SCONN03B
$60.00 - SWI-PS steering wheel controls http://www.pac-audio.com/products/swi.htm
$1063.90 - AVIC-D1 http://www.realdealshop.com
Priceless - Satisfaction of installing yourself.

Total cost ~$1400. I love the touchscreen. I may upgrade to a AVIC-Z1 when that comes out.
