Amp/Sub question
Amp/Sub question
I just had a rockford fosgate T1 Power 10" sub installed today in my box along with a Punch 75 amp. It hits ok but not much different then my JL 10 W3 with a alpine MRD M300 what I expected. The specs on the net say
2-channel car amplifier
37.5 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms (60 watts x 2 at 2 ohms)
120 watts RMS x 1 bridged output at 4 ohms (4-ohm stable in bridged mode)
variable high- or low-pass filters (40-400 Hz at 12 dB per octave)
wired remote bass boost (0-18 dB at 45 Hz)
My sub is rated at 600W, did I accidently get the wrong amp? The birth certificate says: Rated Power : 37.5W RMS x 2 @ 4 OHMS
218 RMS Watts per channel @ 4 OHMS
695 Total RMS Watts @ 2 OHMS
Why the hell does it say 37.5 W RMS x 2 @ 4 ohms , then say 218 RMS Watts per channel @ 4 ohms??

The Punch 45 does a little less than 2X the power bridged into 4 ohms. Not that unusual.
37.5 x 2 is 75. &5 x 2 is 140. You are at a little less than 140, that's about right.
I guess my problem is this: I don't think you got the wrong amp (although the P75 is definitely a "retro" unit - I was selling its forebear in 1986).
But why did you think that this would outperform your JLw3 and your M300, which was rated at 600 watts? I don't see any compelling reason to think so... I don't know much about current Rockford woofers, but I suspect that with that much travel it is a power hungry beast.

I wanted to put a more powerful sub in and my M300 amp doesnt push the new sub anywhere near what the rockford amp does. I just dont understand why it says 140W bridged and the alpine says 300W, yet the rockford amp blows the alpine away on the new sub. I think they hooked up the wrong RCA cable ( I had a cable with 4 RCA plugs ). It is probably as good as it gets with a single sub though
