AAI-NIS2 recalled
Below is an email I received from www.CarMobileAudio.com, where i ordered my AAI-NIS2, which has been on backorder for some time. Seems like the unit is faulty and is now being recalled. Here is the email:
Hi
PAC AAINIS2 UPDATE !
We got them in and ready to ship, but at same time didn't they were recalled about as fast as they delivered, luckily we didn't get backorder notices or parts sent out from the distribution center (got the notice from PAC same time).

Unfortunately we have no idea how long this will take and I don't think PAC is going to push or try making an ETA this time around to allow for indepth testing before it gets re-released.
There is no need to reply to this email if everything is correct.
If not please contact us as soon as possible at Email@CarMobileAudioVideo.com

I know one of the big issues was that on 2006 Infiniti and Nissan cars without the factory sat installed, the volume of the aux. source would not adjust when you used the radio volume controls.
I installed mine and it works perfectly in my 04 with no stock sat. receiver hooked to it. Lets hope it stays that way.

Here's a description of the problem from the PAC site. Looks like it is limited to those installs w/o a factory sat. Also looks like they have a fix.
Bulletin for: AAI-NIS2
# 1. Volume control not working on headunit.
Description: AAI-NIS2 with Rev. 1.04.15 may not allow user to adjust volume on the headunit.
This symtom so far happens in 2006 model Infiniti's and Nissan vehicles with PRESET ABC button and without factory Satellite installed. Prior years may be affected also in some vehicles.
Solution: If you are having problems with the volume control, please send the AAI-NIS2 and a copy of the receipt to us to get the firmware updated. You only need to send the interface and not the wire harness.
Please write on the outside of package: ATT: Techsupport - AAI-NIS2 Firmware update.
Please provide the following information: Name, Address, phone#, Vehicle make, model and year.
If you do not have any problems with the volume control, you may disregard this bulletin.
If you have the factory Satellite installed, you will not see this symtom and can disregard this bulletin.

here's an email I got from their tech support:
looks like the problems for a recall are non-issues with the '06. i have absolutely ZERO problems with mine. everything sounds great
Well it depends on your vehicle. Also, does it seem to work fine in your
vehicle if so I wouldn't worry about sending it to us? A couple problems we
experienced are no volume control when you access the aux inputs and the
other problem is the radio not recognizing the AAI-NIS2. If you are having
any problems let me know and send it back to me as I'll update it and return
it back.

I have an issue sometimes getting the radio to switch to aux when i switch to the first preset. I've been assuming this was because i have satellite and that it was picking that signal up first. With a couple tries I can get it to switch to aux, I'm not sure if these is one of the bugs or not but if it is i don't think its serious enough to bother with uninstalling it
