G35 Electronics Modifications: TVandNav2go, USASpec PA11-NIS, and iPod Video

I want to get these three units^^^ The USASpec PA11-NIS uses the ipod wire for sound and charging. But with a PAC unit you would use an audio (L & R) cable. I also want to put video from the ipod on to the nav. So I would need a AV cable. But the problem is the AV has audio and video. So the video would go to the TVandNav2go but the sound is already covered by the ipod cable. So if I just plug the video in and leave the to audio cables haning will the sound for the videos play through the ipod cable? Or do I need to plug everything in and add a switcher so when I watch videos I use the whole AV cable and switch back to the ipod cable just for music? I made a diagram showing the two options. Everyone please give me your opinion.

I would use the universal dock, which has a dock connector AND an S-video connector, and then get an S-to-composite adapter.

Wish I could answer your question, but I'm trying to find out the same thing. My approach is going to be slightly different though. I'm planning on using the tvandnav2go (which I already have), the PAC AAI-NIS2 (backordered through logjamelectronics.com), and the RCA AV cables that you can plug into the headphone jack on the ipod. That way you have just one set of AV cables - the two audio cables plug into the NIS2 and the video into the tvandnav2go. The problem with this solution is that there's no built in charging, so I'dl have to plug in a cig lighter charger whenever I need it. Anybody out there try this approach?

For what it's worth, I'm hoping that Blitzsafe will eventually come out with a version of their Universal iPod Connector that includes video out as well as audio. Then I could ditch the other RCA cables, plug the ipod into the Blitzsafe through the dock connector, plug the Blitzsafe into the NIS2 and tvandnav2go, and get audio, video, and charging. Would make for a much cleaner looking install as well.

if you look at what el_duderino posted above it actually makes perfect sense. the video dock has 2 outputs.... so you can hook the S-video out (thru an adapter to composite video) into your TVandNAv2Go unit, and then plug the audio from the other connector on the dock (the Line out) into your PA11-NIS.

what that should do is... allow you to play regular ipod music thru the PA11-NIS whenever, then simply activate the TVandNAV2Go when you wanna do video also. duderino, please correct me if this is not what you meant, but it sounds like a good plan

Would this work though? It seems like when you connect your ipod to the PA11 NIS, the screen shows " NISSAN" "OKAY TO DISCONNECT"
https://g35driver.com/forums/attachm...7&d=1140043350...pic via Real_G...
which looks to render the screen & IPOD controls on the unit itself useless...in turn allowing you to use controls on your radio. Someone had the harmon kardon ipod control until which displayed the same thing on the screen. i tried to navigate the ipod via click wheel but nothing worked. everything was controlled by the harmon kardon navigation control...so it seeems like it would be the same for the PA11-NIS. will the dock bypass this allowing video to go thru? if it does, will you still be able to retain controls via stock deck and still charge it. someone correct me on this. the other plan mentioned above sounds like it would work however like he said, the charging issue would be a problem. i was thinking about doing this also, but more on the lines of using the PA11-NIS to play music and when it came to videos, unplug it, connect it to the dock, car charger, and s-video to composite to screen and then lineout to tape adapter. i dunno...my brain hurts. hehe.

Check out my other thread again.. I resolved that issue.. I had the PA11-NIS in the Playlist mode (thats why the ipod said NISSAN.. blah blah) in DIRECT mode it allows you to use the regular IPOD click wheel/display and with the cars factory controls.

I am not talking different audio modes, I am trying to find out how to play videos from the ipod on the Nav. I dont know if it will work because the sound output on the PA11-NIS is throught the ipod charging wire, not AV cables. Can someone please help????? I want to do this but I dont know if it will work. Are you saying that it will work in DIRECT mode with video in the TVandNAV2go and audio with the PA11-NIS?

I am really sorry. Some of those posts I didnt even see/understand like SI_G35Coupe's, el_duderinos, and Beangrowers. Sorry guys. Thanks for helping, but I am still not sure if audio and video will work since the audio on the pa11-nis doesnt use the composite audio inputs for ipod sound. Can anyone confirm that??
