Your Nav Advice is Needed for a Novice

I was thinking about buying the Pioneer Z1 when it comes out in a month or so. The guy who is going to install this stuff on my g35 sedan, who really knows he stuff, is suggesting the Kenwood DDX8017.

However, am I mistaken in that if I purchase the Z1 then the Nav unit is included in that $2300 price tag. If I buy the Kenwood at $1500 then I still have to pony up another $2000 for the nav system to add on to that? And if so, which nav add on do i get.

I've been googling the hell out of these questions and can't get any clear answers. I'm trying to learn this stuff but it's not coming easy.

So far I know that I have to purchase a DD conversion kit from Nismo for $600, a DD HU, an iPod adapter, BT adapater and XM adapter. What am I missing?
