Question on speakers.

Im planning on doing a JL Audio 500-5 + JL Audio 10W6v2 + 4080 box combo... and i was wondering if i needed to get aftermarket speakers in the car as well. someone told me to get them if i was gonna get an amp. im kinda new in the speaker area.. so any help would be appreciated. like what i should get.. what i should change.. etc.. thanks

If you're going to upgrade to an aftermarket amp, you should definitely NOT keep the oem speakers.

The most popular upgrades up front seem to be DSL UP6 and CDT.

I would recommend a different config on the amp(s)- that is, I would go with either a JL 1000/1 or a 500/1 for the sub and a JL 300/2 for the front speakers. Don't do rear fill (it will just blow your soundstage and imaging) and instead invest in a great pair of front speakers like CDT's, MB Quarts, Focals or Dynaudio to name a few.

I would have to disagree with "great speakers" and "MB quarts" and "focal" being in the same sentence. But that's just my preference as your statement was your preference.

in any sense, if you plan on upgrading the amp, you MUST upgrade the speakers. Otherwise, instead of crappy soft sound, it will be just lounder crappy sound through the stock speakers.

the sound quality is actually, if you can believe it, worse (not just louder)!
