Can your car do this? Official Teaser

I installed the updated module last night and was pretty pleased with the results. I moved the mirror up and down 10 times and it ended up almost exactly where it started. It wasn't perfect, but the mirror was still well in its usable range and no adjustment was needed to see safely behind the car. If I hadn't been using a precise measuring device (a marked piece of wood behind the car) I probably wouldn't have even noticed it was off. I'm still waiting to do road tests, as its been rainy here and its 30 degrees outside. Hopefuly tomorrow will be dry enough to get the car out of the garage.
As said before, the system will never be perfect, but it looks like it will be accurate enough to satisfy 95% of the people. Also, keep in mind, that if it does drift a little bit its much easier to make minor adjustments to the mirror then it is to completely lower and raise it back up, especially if you are only making minor adjustments after using the system 10-15 times.
I'm going to work on the custom circuit boards in the next week or so, and then start beta testing with my local friends (Patton hint hint) and my usual group of testers (FGC). I will probably try to test at least one on a non Nissan product too, just to see if the results are similar.

I took the car out for a drive yesterday and I'm very impressed with the accuracy and functionality of the test module. Much better then I had anticipated! I have, however, found one bug to fix already. It seems I always leave my car in 'Reverse' (its a 6mt obviously) and when I start the car the mirror tilts! No big deal to correct that though, its a simple fix.
I would like to get a general idea of how many people would be interested in such a module. Pricing will be in the ballpark of $75 and this includes everything to add the reverse tilt function to both mirrors, with a manual selector switch most likely (left mirror, right mirror, or both). This is the last area to be decided, and then the boards will be made. If we get enough people interested up front we can roll it right in to a group buy and save everyone quite a bit of money.

In the '03s and '04s all mirror wires rest at open until you push the mirror switch to move the mirrors. Its a really weird setup (and requires a few more relay contacts) then most five wire motor control circuits in automobiles.
As you can see the side select switch comes before the directional switch. When the directional switch is centered it leaves all conacts to the motor open. All these contacts are internal on the switch, so rewiring it is out of the question.

Like I said, the mirror side selector configuration hasn't been totally worked out yet. I would like to incorporate an OEM feel to it, like all our other products. The switch, if we go that route, wouldn't actually be necesarry, ONLY if you want to control if only one mirror tilts at a time. I can't honestly see a need to only tilt one mirror at a time, especially since there is already a way to put the car in reverse without tilting the mirrors at all. I guess maybe if you are parallel parking and want to keep an eye on traffic behind you or something. I'll think about it over the weekend and see what I can come up with.

At work we have "head in" parking. The easiest way I can get in is reversing (RWD). I then end up with curb on the left side and a car on the right side.
I tilt my left mirror down to see the curb and keep my right stationary to see the clearance I have from the car next to me.
Just wanted to give you this scenario where one mirror only would be best =}
