Stock Disc Error '03 sedan
Stock Disc Error '03 sedan
Okay, so I've searched the forums and found all the info I thought I needed. I drive an 03 sedan, 70,000 miles, 3 years old. I'm screwed for having it covered by warranty. So I followed instructions previously posted to remove the center console and get to the cd changer. When I got it out, the center console I couldn't figure how to remove the changer without getting into a lot of trouble with tiny screws and unknown wires. I read other posts about holding the eject button and turning the car on and off. Didn't work. I remvoed and replaced the audio fuse. Didnt work. So after gutting out my car, I put everything back, the trim which bent because the teeth didn't find the holes. And I still get Disc Check, and CD Err FO. Please help. Is there a detailed description for dismantling the cd changer? Accordfreak was nice enough to post some pics on the changer, but I need to know how to get to that point, or any other options. Thanks.
Worst comes to worst, what should I get to replace it?

You got stuck with one of those stupid problems that can cost way too much money out of warranty.
You can buy someone's old HU and replace it; This is probably the cheapest way. Otherwise get a Double-Din setup with a DD navi, if you have the desire and spare cash. A DD-setup with a single-din HU looks cheap and will devalue the car...

I'm having the same issue...im gonna switch to a double din but i just found this infiniti help site that may fix the problem until i install the DD
Radio/CD Player Inoperative or Shows Error
The CD changer may have an internal problem, but resetting the system will sometimes fix it.
There are two ways to reset the Audio/CD Player system:
-Disconnect the car battery for at least 30 seconds
-Disconnect the CD changer connector. (behind the CD changer) for at least 30 seconds.
If it still shows an error code try resetting the system more than once, and make sure all the CD's in the CD changer cartridge/ CD Player are installed properly.

I picked up a HU from someone who had done a DD conversion. As a matter of fact, props to Limeg35 - he sent it to me for nothing and wouldn't take a penny for the HU or the shipping.
There were a couple others who had HU they were willing to sell, ranging from cheap to a couple hundred bucks. Post it and bump it a time or two, and you'll find some people.
Good luck!

Wasup everyone! I'm new to this site and a new 03' G35 owner. I am having the same issue w/ my stock head unit. The piece of crap won't play , load , or eject any of my cd's. just smiles at me w/ that stupid error message. The more I read through here it seems like everyone eventually converts to these DD head units. I'd like to hear some opinions who makes the best one for the money and any problems, if any, that you've had after converting. I am looking for a DD head unit that atleast plays cd's, mp3's(I have an ipod), xm radio, dvd would be nice to but not a must. I like to hear your good opinons and place to buy if you didn't buy from a local store. I live in VA.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I just got off the phone with my service manager. He is awesome, but when I told him my unit was jammed he asked whether I put burned cds in it. I said that I had, and he said that only store boughts cds are recommended for the unit otherwise jamming may occur. I think he might replace it anyways under warranty, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this happen.

I had to have mine replaced (under warranty). I had a number of burned CDs in there, but the dealer never suggested that was a problem. I actually haven't got my CDs back yet either. The CDs were jammed - I coudn't eject or play.
Amendment to my previous post: hard rear-end impact can also result in the CD ERR F0.
Was sitting in traffic on the freeway this AM, as us SoCal people often do, when I hear a BAM! and glance up at my rear-view mirror to see the car behind me lurch forward right into my rear bumper with another BAM!.
Basically, some guy in a Toyota Echo never hit his brakes, smacked into the Mitsubishi Diamante behind me, which slammed into me. He was probably going 50+, so even though the car in the middle took a lot of the impact I still got nailed pretty hard. Car held up AMAZINGLY well - unless you're looking for it, it is difficult to tell there's damage (just looks like the rear bumper is dirty). I'm very fortunate our bumpers matched up exactly, and it wasn't a truck or SUV or anything.
The real pisser: after having my CD ERR F0 and limeg35 being so kind in shipping his old HU to me to get me back up and running, this replacement unit now gets CD ERR F0, too. Apparently the impact upset the CD transport mech - I can't load/unload/listen to CDs.
On the upside, this might be my 'in' for a new DD nav HU!

Did you report the problem to the insurance company as being part of the accident? If so, they'll probably try to get it repaired first, replaced second. My claim is still unfolding; the repair co is headed to the body shop on Monday to take a look at the HU, then we know whether it's a repair or a replace.
