Kenwood Headunit Steering Controls

Is there an PAC unit that allows me to use my steering wheel controls for a Kenwood HU? Crutchfield has a few listed but none labeled "Kenwood". I'm not sure if the univeral one will work.

Thanks for the info guys. I already have the KDC X789 headunit. Forgot if it had a remote input but I'll check. I rather not deal with the IR thing.

from my discussions with some kenwood dealers, if you connect something into wired remote port in the back of the unit then your regular remote that came with it will not work. so if you want to use the remote and the steering wheel controls then you have to get the IR pac unit.

I have a ddx7017 and a PAC SWI-ALP. I'll check out the 'loss of the wired remote thing' tomorrow, and see if I've lost any remote functions. I do know that at least some of the remote commands (esp. DVD-related) work while using the wired remote port.

I haven't anticipated using the remote too often from anywhere in a G35 coupe.... ; )
