Nav route problems

I was programming a route from the center of CT to Williamsburg VA and it was sending me through the hills of PA..... for a 670 mile one way trip. I had printed out mapquest and yahoo directions and it was about 500 miles and the correct route (I have an idea of how to go there). I had it set to shortest time. I tried resetting to shortest distance, etc but no luck. After about 120 miles it finally reset to a logical route. On the return trip, it started ok, but then after a few hours had me going 150 miles out of my way. after resetting a few times it got me back...... I have version 6.2 , 2003. Will a new version help? If I did not know how to go to my location, it could have been a diaster. I called Infiniti customer relations and they were helpless and did not make the situation better. At least my local Infiniti dealer (Harte) tried to locate a local dealer ....... any suggestions?

My 06 navi is sweet.. it normally chooses the best route, and also offers alternate routes. I also like that when you are travelling and miss a turn it automaticly replots a new route to get you back on course.

My 03 once put me through hell when I was going to Charlottesville, VA from Ohio. It would normally take 6-7 hours but it took me freaking 9 hours. I also used it when I traveled to northern VA and I decided to try the route the Navi suggested... took me another hour and it put me on a wierd back road that had speed limit of 35-45 when I could have just used I-70. The distance was shorter by 10 miles or so... I use it when I travel long distance only to see how many miles are left... I would always trust Mapquest or Yahoo more than the Navi. There is nothing you can do about it... For short distances, though, the Navi does a decent job.

Anyway, my gf goes to William&Mary. I've just visited Williamsburg two weeks ago. How did you like it and what were you there for? It looks like pretty boring place for college students

update- just got car back with new nav unit installed. still does not route correctly. tried the svc mgrs 2005 and it worked fine. put his disc in mine and did not route correctly. He's going to check with Infiniti.... Maybe I'm being **** (yes, I'm known to be ****..) but in planning a 500 mile trip, it should not route my 170 miles out of the way..... and the settings are correct(shortest time or distance). any suggestions?

That's very odd on my 2003 its always routed correctly in the areas I have tested it. (Chicago and St Louis) There's only the occasional missing address or street. I also did a few test routes in far off states and it was correct. For big trips I would always double check it with map quest and google. Try a nearby address to your destination and see what it does. Also see if there is a particular intersection it likes to avoid.

Irregardless even if I don't have other computer generated directions to compare to I'll double check the route by scrolling with the joystick to make sure its logical. The actual maps are good. Its certainly easier than a paper map.

I just returned from the dealer and still no fix. this time new nav unit (2004) with supposedly new OS. but still does not route correctly. really no idea. what would cause a bad route calcuation? Is the disc just the maps/places of interest? if so, it is not the disc as the nav gets me to the final location but just takes me 150+ miles out of the way. and the roads it should be using is I-95 which has been around for years. suggestions?

Try contacting Zenrin. They are the ones who made the software.

I sent an email with details to Zenrin over a week ago and no reply. Infiniti has no answers. I know I am ****, but I travel a fair amount and Nav was supposed to help me (and enable not to use mapquest etc). How do I bring it up the chain at Infiniti? the local service manager is nice and trying to help but I am getting no results and this problem was first noticed and reported on March 31.
