Those are the sizes for diameter, but having replaced all of mine, the mounting depth is also important. Can't go much deeper than 62-63 mm for the 6.5"

the rear is much less, my front 6.5s are JLs and those magnets are huge compared to most 6.5s and they had plenty of room. the rear is the main problem, not much room for a large magnet.

anybody ever consider putting two 8 inch subs in the rear deck, where the 6x9s would be? i know i have posted this thought before, but never really got and good info, or anybody willing to pursue it, and since i dont have a coupe, yet, i cant do much with the idea. i think i would just modify the rear deck using elemental designs E8A's and small sealed boxes.
any thoughts?

my jl tweets fit perfect in the factory spot, there is a flat metal bracket that holds the factory in, i just popped it off slid the jl in there and put the bracket back on, perfect, the rear 6.5d dont have much room between the sheet metal, i put jl 6x9s in the rear deck, kinda wish i didnt it was a PITA, but my sub box slides out so i can have more room if needed and i just hook those up for a little low end in the back. got my jl grills on so that looks cool too.

Jayhawk,
If you were to do the 8's in the rear deck I'd use a freeair sub like a JL w0, something that doesn't need to be enclosed. My best friend is a custom installer and install manager at a stereo shop "Audio Experts" Ventura, CA. He has a car featured in the current Car Audio and Perfomance (Cover car Gold Civic Si). He was suggesting I do the same with my G Sedan. The one thing with a sub in the rear deck is it acts more as a mid-bass than an actual subwoofer so don't expect to be booming down the Blvd. It does give it a nice quality sound though.

JL Audio W0 series, unfortunately, is not a free-air or infinite baffle subwoofer. JL discontinued their free-air series which was called the IB series. The W0 series will work in sealed, ported, and bandpass cabinets. Check around at local authorized JL dealers, they may have some IB subs hanging around.
