You really need to get the details down, or you could easily get screwed by these guys. From what I know the D1 is the new double din the Z1 is single din version.
The double din's look like most OEM navi's (Honda, GM etc) with a large screen that takes up two din's in the dash.. Search for some pics.

The Z1 is the latest and greatest from Pioneer- it's dual-din with a 7" wide screen and a 30GB HD, among other features.
The D1 is dual-din as well, and has been updated by the D2.
The N1 is a single-din flipout screen, which has been replaced by the N2, and then the N3.
