I've got a 2003, so I had to add my own bluetooth. Originally I had a Motorola IHF1000 - loved the functionality (voice tags in the unit, dial by number, etc) but had the same kinds of sound quality issues you're describing.

Switched to a Parrot CK3000 Evolution a couple weeks ago, using one of SDGuy's kits, and the problems seem to have gone away.

I'm curious what the brand of the factory-installed bluetooth unit is...

I hope there is a solution to this problem! Other annoying day of people saying they can't hear me.

The car is so fun, but this problem is making me grumpy.

I just made a dealer appointment to see if they can do anything about it..

Went in and big surprise, they said nothing is wrong.. And people still complain.

I'm probably picking up a Motorola Q at some point this week, so we'll see if that makes any difference.

Congrats...I hope you enjoy the Q....powerful little phone, but I am afraid you will still have this problem.

My dealership at least had the honesty to admit there is a problem. We tried 3 other Gs on the lot....the service manager called his service crew from each car and they said it sounded terrible each time. I have a recorded conversation from the Infiniti helpdesk where they admit that there is a problem on all cars but the M (the M has an adjustable microphone level). If you want to take that recording back to your dealership....just let me know.

I noticed that the sound quality is also dependent on the folks on the receiving end of the call. Whether it's their phone or their carrier, I'm not sure. I have Sprint and the Samsung A900 and I can talk to my girlfriend on her T-Mobile Razr just fine. However, my friend who has Cingulair (I think) and a Samsung phone refuses to talk to me when I'm on my Bluetooth because she says I sound like I'm on a horrible speaker phone.

Maybe my girl is just willing to put up with more crap from me... But seriously, I've had her call me from my phone and I was on hers, and it sounded just fine.

I tell you one thing, the Bluetooth that she has on her Acura is sooooooooooo much better than ours. Sometimes, I can't tell she's on the bluetooth when she calls. And the caller ID showing up on the dash is pretty sweet.

I'm convinced that my wife just puts up with it.

No luck with the Moto Q.

If I ever have any stereo stuff installed, I'm going to pay them to do something about it..

Sorry to hear that Cokecan....

My cousin picked up a new Acura TL yesterday....he called me using the bluetooth system in his car and it sounded great! I could not tell he was on speakerphone at all, much less Bluetooth.

Like I have always said, I like my G even if it burns oil! It offers a lot of performance for a reasonable price...just wish they would do something about this feature that does not work.

I have the opposite experience - my bluetooth in the car sounds so much clearer and better than my bluetooth headset (Plantronics).

I'm using a Sprint PPC-6700 PDA phone and I speak with clients all day in the car - no complaints. My girlfriend refused to speak with me using my BT headset but will chat for hours over the G's bluetooth (blessing, curse?)

Maybe seating position is important? I'm a big and tall guy, so I lean the seat back pretty far and I'm pretty much pointing directly at the BT mic.

That is interesting...I am using the same phone...but I get complaints from people even if I am talking towards the mic or even talking into it.

Well, consider yourself lucky I guess! From reading this thread it seems your G is one of the few exceptions to this problem.. Enjoy!

btw, my bby 7290 (TMobile) works fine about 90% of the time. But every once in awhile someone asks me if my phone is turned upside down!
