Q: powered sub line in

Thanks in advance....

If I use the line in input on an amp (such as a powered sub), do I loose the use of those speakers?

Anyone?

I can't really afford a full blown system, but was thinking of adding 4 infinity kappas (without amp) + the infinity basslink. If I used the speaker wire imputs on the basslink, will I loose those speakers or does it loop back out as well?

Google found this:

http://www.infinitysystems.com/caraudio/product.aspx?ProdId='BASSLINK'&Ser=BSL&Cat=SUB

which has a link to the owners manual for the bass link:
http://manuals.harman.com/INF/CAR/Ow...sLink%20om.pdf

according to the manual, the basslink only has inputs, no outputs. You'd need to split the wires you intend on using, sending one set to the basslink and the other set to their original destination. You may need a line driver, however, as such a split is going to lower voltage to both destinations.

you need a line out converter to hook up to your stock bose amp that will then go to the sub amp, search the audio forum the information is there and has been discussed many many times. gl

The basslink has both speaker level and RCA inputs. If he taps before the amp he can use twisted pair/braided RCA "Y" adapters to convert the wires to RCA (for connecting to the basslink's low level RCA inputs). Or he can tap after the amp and feed the speaker-level (and EQ'ed) signals into the basslink's speaker-level inputs. Either way, he doesn't need a LOC.

I don't have the bose. Just my factory head unit plus 4 speakers.

I guess I'm bummed b/c I just want to add the Basslink, but dont want to loose two of the speakers.
