Class D Amplifiers and Radio Interference

I did a google search and couldn't find much info on this. I read that the Class D amplifiers (i.e. JL 500/1 or 1000/1) produce radio interference if it is installed near a tuner.

My question is, will installation in the trunk interfere with the tuner up front? Is that far away enough? Can someone with this install chime in? I like listening to the radio from time to time and I don't have satellite in my coupe.

I do know that a lot of these amp produce interference in the 50Mhz range. It could bother an FM (88 to 108Mhz) because it's close.

i used to have my JL 500/1 mounted on the back of the backseat in the trunk... it did mess up my radio reception enough that i noticed it.

i ended up moving the amp under the trunk floor (near the stock bose amp) and it went away. the radio antenna module in our car is actually in the driver's side C pillar... whether you have stock or aftermarket deck i believe that antenna unit still provides the signal

Thanks for the replies guys.

I also have another question regarding sub/amp installs. There are a bunch of 4 gauge amplifier wiring kits on ebay. Are there truly a difference in the brands, as long as they are 100% copper? The brands I've seen are SPL, Power Acoustik, Phoenix Gold, and Pyle.

I'm going to try to ask them to place the amp on the passenger side behind the rear seat so I can try to preserve my radio reception.

I think I've decided to buy my JL 500/1 and 10W6v2 through ebay. The retail prices at the local shops were OUTRAGEOUS! I'm going to buy the extended warranty through Square Trade through ebay. Installation at Ultimate Electronics should run about $65-$100. Just waiting on 4080 to sell me a box

After a bit more google research, I'm not sure I've found a conclusive argument either for or against FM radio reception.

Can any more of you guys who have a D Class amp chime in on your FM reception? I'm getting ready to order but may have to find some other amp (non-Class D) to run my JL W6.

Thanks for the above replies.
