06 coupe w/ bose. question on LOC and wiring

I am looking for the wiring colors for the 06 bose unit. I believe the colors may have changed since 04 (04 is the only service manual I have been able to find and I'd rather not buy it just for the wiring diagram).

The bose amp has two harnesses going into it, one is blue with 12-16 wires and the other is white with only 6 wires. I believe that I need to tap into the wires in the blue harness but I am not really sure. The wiring diagrams I've found from internet and forum searches dont seem to match color for color with what I am seeing in my car. Does anyone have an 06 coupe with bose that they've successfully added a LOC to (pre-amp, i dont want to tap into the speaker wire after the amp).

Any help or direction would be most appreciated.

Don't use an LOC.

I don't have an 06 pinout... but if you have a voltmeter, you can find the right wires using the fader and balance controls... the wires come out of a shielded jacket that you can see after you peel the tape back a bit off of the harness.

Oh crap. I was about to go out and splice into my '06 Bose unit in about an HOUR! I'm glad you noticed that the colors are not lining up. Man, this makes things a bit more complicated. I am also VERY interested in getting an '06 wiring diagram. I'm not too excited about testing each individual wire.

Hey saitcho:
Were you looking for the pre-amp wires, Left Rear (Teal+, Purple-), and Right Rear (Blue+, Pink-). One thing I noticed that the Bluetooth (and Nav speech?) unit is sitting on top of the amplifier with a harness going into the amp. I'm sure this would make it much more complicated to upgrade the amp for the rest of the speakers in the car (bypassing the Bose amp altogether).

el_duderino:
Can you shed more light on using the volmeter. I'm a pretty well rounded guy, but physics 2 was not my forte. When you use the voltmeter, what setting do you set it at? Do I just unplug the harness, turn on the radio, adjust the fade to left/rear and right/rear and check for activity? How do you determine polarity once you identify one of the wires. Stupid questions, I'm sure, but "Damn it Jim, I'm a doctor, not an electrical engineer!"

El_dude: when you say dont use an LOC do you mean I should just make balanced RCA's spliced out of the HU output? Woudlnt this mean I would need to use an amp that accepts balanced inputs? Unfortunately I dont have an amp like that. What other options do I have besides the LOC?

dr6: yes I was looking for the bose pre-amp wires.

not sure about the 06, i got an 05 and use a LOC and it works fine. the speaker wires are located on the harness that has the most wires.obviously before the stock amp. i tested it out by using a regular speaker and see if i hear any sound. i found 4 wires that produce sound on the speaker so i use those for the LOC. works fine. hope this help.

That's a good idea prelude. I knew I kept those old Bose front components for a reason!

The only problem is, it would be next to impossible to determine polarity. When I was installing the front speakers, I flip-flopped the + and - to make sure I had wired it right, and it sounded identical.

Here's a screenie of the 2005 FSM.

According to the chart you should have

FL+ White
FL- Black

FR+ Green
FR- Red

I realize it isn't a 2006, but I would be surprised if they changed the colors.

MiloX, you are awesome dude!

One thing though... I was wanting to splice into the pre-amp line to the REAR's. Can you post that page with the color codes? Thanks man!

The only thing that concerns me about the '06 vs. '05 is the integration of the Bluetooth. I hope the schematic stays the same for the most part.

Ask and ye shall receive.

LR+ Brown
LR- Yellow

RR+ Blue
RR- Pink

Have no clue about the bluetooth.

Keep in mind, this is from a sedan FSM. YMMV

Once again Milox, you've come through to help a brotha out. Thanks!

It looks like in both the 2003 coupe and 2005 sedan service manuals, the pin numbers stayed the same for the lines into the amplifier. Even if the colors of the wires have been changing, I'm going to count the pins and hopefully figure this thing out.

Tomorrow, I'm gonna try and take pics to do a D.I.Y. since it seems like there are a lot of people (like myself) looking to add an amp/subwoofer to the stock Bose HU.

Thanks again for your help.

make sure your using a good LOC. i had a cheap 5 dollar loc installed and have tons of engine noise. even when i signal it would make weird noise. i went out to a local audio shop and purchase a better LOC and everything is fine now. 95% of the noise went away.

worked great for my 06 w/ bose. thanks to everyone for the assistance.

OK, I didn't realize that you had a sedan saitcho.

The 2006 G35 COUPE's wiring has remained unchanged. You can use the wiring diagram from the link below.

http://www.g35frenzy.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1044

As for my project for the weekend, I got all my parts in EXCEPT my amplifier. I Hopefully it will get here early next week so I can finish my upgrade.

Oh, you had said that you couldn't find the right colored wires but the teal, purple, blue, and pink wires were right there when I unplugged it. I thought you had another car...
