Added PA11-NIS and Nuvi 350
Finally took the plunge in taking out my bose HU (05AT). Thanks go to Real_G for his excellent HU removal DIY (https://g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90507). Only problem I had (with an AT) was in not placing the car in neutral before pulling up on the bottom trim. Once I figured that out, it was a breeze.
Okay - my goal was to replace my PAC AII NIS/Blitzsafe with the PA11 unit and to hard-wire my NUVI GPS. For the Nuvi, I first tried to make a mini-usb cable that I could hardwire by by dropping the 12v to 5v. Didn't work - the Nuvi thought it was in disk (pc) mode. Oh well. Instead, got a 12v outlet to wire in beind the hu. Well, between the PA11, the 12v outlet, and the 12 Nuvi adapter, the hu would not fit. So, I wired the outlet into the nav cubby which has the benefit of freeing me from buuing another 12v car adapter for the Nuvi (for wife's car or business travel).
So far, so good. However, I can not decide on whether to keed the PA11 in direct or playlist mode. I want both! So, I removed the dip switch from the unit, left switch 1 open (giving me the aux port) and soldered in two 24 gauge wires into switch 2. These I ran up to an external switch (photo 2) to allow me to change on the fly.
What is left is to mount the switch when I finally get around to it.

I tried a mini toggle switch, but it did not survive the rigours of reinstalling the HU. Hence the low profile yet solid switch I finally used.
